and yes, like i've said and many BEFORE me, engineering was Owa's initial choice, which i pointed out earlier and once again, the 2nd i read that, i just pull down the shutters on him. the second ANY recruit brings up engineering i just wave bye bye and if he changes his mind on his major, then i tune back in.
all you have to do is read. i don't have any special powers here. i have zero inside knowledge or sources. all i do is read. that's it. you can do the exact same thing and draw your conclusions on your own. it's honestly very easy. you just edit as you go along and things get really simple.

agreed and if Hines is proved wrong he never responds back. Definitely not a guy you would want on a board, but makes things interesting none the less.duckgrad99 wrote:hines wrote:i wasn't aware i said not getting him is not a big deal. could you point out where i said that? thanks!Hoagduck wrote:Hines ---> If losing out on the best prospect in the state is not a big deal recruiting-wise, then nothing (recruiting-wise) is. i said, if you would read it again, that i never expected him because of his initial choice of majors. once i read that, poof...away he goes. it's that simple. no need to hold out for a very slim chance.
You didn't have to say it, people know how to read between the lines. You contradict whate everyone else says in every one of your posts.
I can't believe how these other pac-10 teams are locking up players early and fast. I just watched ESPN's 30 for 30 movie "The U" about Miami during the 80's and early 90's. And how recruiting made the difference for them early on that built their success for later on. Maybe next year if we have another successful season the Oregon coaches will build some better recruiting ties that actually produce commits. It was encouraging to hear what was said about Gary Campbell when he went down to Florida. Maybe one of these days we will get some big commits out of FL
Then hopefully we can build a Tradition here at The O

You could have easily said: I'm not flaunting my knowledge. It's known that Owa is interested in an engineering program, which basically crosses out Oregon. All I did was look on the internet to find this information.

Also I just talked to Nate, and he told me that owa told him all teams are even.
He was surprised when we asked him about the ucla rumor. So yeah, either this is nothing more than a misinformed rumor, OR he doesn't want to admit the rumor to us.

And we're never going to be recruiting like Miami was. No matter how well we do, we're situated in Oregon. HS football in Oregon is like 7th grade football in Florida.

don't respond to him if you don't like what he says, its simple as that. you're not more of an adult or role model by calling him out on half the stuff he says. if everyone agreed this place would be boring, hes not trying to call you out just stating his thoughts just like everyone else. talk about the ducks talk about owa this isnt oregonlive that why we all left years ago.

Re: QWA..word on Educk and
so let me get this straight....i'm just loving the double standard here. me saying that i only get information by reading stuff about recruits is rude? me saying all you have to do is read is rude? but that's true. all you have to do is read. that's all i do is read. i clearly said that i don't have any inside sources and never have. so if i don't have any of those, how can i find out the info that i respond to? i read. and now people are calling that rude? really? i'm just like 99.9% of EVERYONE here. i don't call recruits. never have, never will. so if i don't get the information from the source (recruits), how can i get the information? i like 99.9% of EVERYONE here reads it on the internet. how else do we find out the information? do we see it on the tv news? nope. do we read about it in the newspaper? pretty much never. so if those 2 sources aren't available to us...where do we find the information? on the internet by reading. i truly don't understand the logic about somehow reading is now rude to some.UOducksTK1 wrote:I bolded the overly rude remarks. and then here again:
it's honestly very easy. you just edit as you go along and things get really simple.
how is that rude? that's MY truth. i read the same stuff like everyone else does. i gather information like everyone else does. so far not rude. after many, many months (remember, this is about month #9 for recruiting for 2010 class) you learn what to kinda believe and what to kinda ignore. it's like driving your car. i can't sit and tell you from the passenger seat what it feels like to you. you know what the steering wheel feels like and when something new comes across that steering wheel, your brain kinda jumps to attention right? the wheel bobbles in your hand like it hasn't before and you start to wonder. over time, you edit yourself. your brain says this is ok but that isn't. that's all i was saying. that sentence wasn't meant to be rude, it's how I follow recruiting. i gather info like everyone else and you start to edit things down to what is probably right and wrong. it is, after 9 months, pretty easy. it is. just look at the new recruit we got yesterday. read how many folks who were kinda upset about it. i replied yesterday to someone by askign why are they so upset? you've never seen the kid play a down of football and you didn't realize he walked the face of the earth 3 hours earlier and the poster seems upset over this. why? over time, you edit your emotions about this stuff. the coaches will always know more than anyone else here. that's not rude, that's the truth. do i know more about your family than i do? of course not. so why get kind of upset over a new kid when the only thing you know about him is his height and weight and maybe his size when he was in HS? edit yourself. it does make it easier. that's not rude, that (to me) is just common sense.
and finally, for me, the double standard:
I bolded the overly rude remarks.
HINES! YOU F ING ANNOYING TO READ! STOP ALWAYS HAVING TO TRY AND PROVE YOURSELF RIGHT.............. ITS F ING ANNOYING
agreed and if Hines is proved wrong he never responds back.
Great. You're still a prick.
...to the point of making others feel bad. I think it's great if you share what you know with everyone. But when you do it simply to put others down, it means you're pathetic.
were you going to bold their rude remarks or is what they said ok? isn't being an admin. on a message board fun? lol
if everyone agreed this place would be boring, hes not trying to call you out just stating his thoughts just like everyone else
exactly. i'm not trying to call out anyone. i'm just giving my opinion. if you don't like it, ignore it. i'm honestly not trying to make anyone upset. that's just dumb. remember, someone said the following about me:
Hines ---> If losing out on the best prospect in the state is not a big deal recruiting-wise, then nothing (recruiting-wise) is. Stop being a prick.
which would be great if i actually said that which i never did. please remember when i reply to something, remember the original post that i'm replying to.
and lastly (thankfully):
agreed and if Hines is proved wrong he never responds back.
that's actually not true. please tell me what i was proven wrong on that i never responded back to. honest. i'd love to know. please realize that i don't respond to everything. i've started many replies to many posts and stopped about halfway thinking that if i respond, some people might think i'm being rude or will take my reply out of context so i don't respond. and most stuff i don't respond to is because i don't think it's that interesting to be honest. there is no need for me or really anyone else to respond because the point has been made and the board has moved on.

Re: QWA..word on Educk and
Hines, no worries. What you said wasn't rude. A little condescending in tone, but understandable in the context of defending yourself to the people pouncing on you in here.
Personally, the guy [Hoagduck] who responded and said, "You're still a prick," was really out of line. Or how Mdm0302 is swearing at Hines, "F'n this, and F'n that." TK1, How is that not a violation of board rules and not deserve periodic ban? Truly, a double standard.
Now, back to why I started reading this post in the first place...
How many commits do we have room for left on the 2010 class?
