Tonight will be a gritty win if it happens. I think Oregon has better players and has been putting it together last month, but I'm not sold on their mental toughness. A win would be huge, a close loss would still pay dividends in March.
Stewart Mandel-"From a purely aesthetic standpoint, I much prefer to watch a good spread-rushing offense over a traditional Power-I offense, and Oregon's has been the most fun by far for the past several years. It's fast, its precise, and when Chip Kelly has the right quarterback (Dixon, Masoli) at the helm, the possibility of someone ripping off a 60-yard run exists on nearly every play."

I don't see mental toughness as a problem. Since the team became whole and went on their 7 game winning streak:
-Outscored UA 18-5 in the Fourth and 9-7 in overtime, Overcame a double digit 2nd half deficit.
-Came back from a 0-10 hole to blow out U Conn
-Outscored Washington 8-1 in the last half of the 4th to win a close game.
-With the score tied with 2:30 to go against Utah, outscored them by 4 to close out the game.
-Outscored ASU 23-12 in the 4th to break free from a close game.

Finishing strong has been their strength in this run.

I see the Achilles heel as when the volume 3 point shooters all go cold in the same game. For example Utah was close because Paopao and Rogers went a combine 0-10 from 3. Washington was a close game because Oregon went 6-22 in 3s as a team.

I wonder what is up with Prince? She is not a force under the basket. Our shooting percentage is horrid.

Parrish’s shooting form is really, really bad, but probably difficult to change this late in career.

Agree about Prince - a liability on the floor. Just think she was overrated from the get-go.

Out of sync all game long. Credit Arizona for their relentless pressure all game long. Felt like we didn't score on consecutive possessions all night. On the bright side, the defense was pretty damn solid. Beat ASU and get the desert split!

Agreed.

Tough to see Parrish turn out this away, after being our 5 star Miss Indiana Basketball "best pure shooter in the country" recruit. She has been struggling since getting here, only occasionally catching fire.

On Prince. Highly overrated. People thought she would be the next coming of Breanna Stewart but she's more concerned with that TikTok money.

Agreed. She acts as if she is just going through the motions. Really disappointed. Kelly knows it too.

About half of what she had been getting earlier!

I’ve brought this up a few times, but the rebounding from Prince is completely awful for her size. Unacceptable. 0 Reba in 18 mins. If you miss a few shots that’s one thing, but to be the most capable rebounder by size on the floor and to get none is scorn worthy. :x

Paopao has a couple great assists but that’s about it for her so far.

ASU 2-23 to start the game and just three behind at the half.

Probably doesn’t mean anything, but the coach handling our bigs looks to be about 5’2”. I hope maybe new assistant Moser is helping out. Just amusing, that’s all. I’m sure she knows what she’s doing.

Parrish is shooting team best .391 from 3 and shooting .410 from 3 in conference. My biggest complaint is she has the ability to create her own 3 instead of just wait for a catch and shoot. Though it is a small sample, I think she shoots it better off her slide and step back move. I would love to have the coach urge her to do it more when the big 3 are slumping with their offense.

Prince is ping ponging between being a mid range jump shooter, a low post or not shooting at all. Coaches really need to help her establish an identity of what her game is in college and not worry about the WNBA.

The big take from this game is, sometimes a top 10 team with top 5 defense playing at home is going to kick your ass when their offense clicks.
