Those last 2 offensive possession are a perfect summation of this season.

1- Young dribbles the entire possession, takes a subpar shot, when he should've given the ball to Richardson.

2- Richardson has an ideal matchup to tie the game and goes into turtle mode.

I was thinking Richardson or Young should try to get into the lane and look for Guerrier on the perimeter for a three. He was shooting really well tonight.
Drive wouldn't do any good if we were down three. Defense would gladly give up a layup.

He had a relatively open 3 and he refused to take it. It wasn't about creating a 3, it was about being afraid to take it.
Possibly, I think the big had a chance to block it. All Richardson needed to do was a hard left to right crossover to shake the big. He elected for the between the leg side-step (executed too slowly) which resulted in less space.

I'd have to rewatch but:

#1 he took too long to get up the court.

#2 he should've attacked the big immediately coming downhill instead of slowing down and then going into his move. utilize the momentum u have,

Guerrier should have gotten a shot attempt with how well he was shooting tonight.

the whole purpose of getting into the lane is to draw the defense in to free up a 3pointer. Defense won't draw in for the drive if they are willing to relinquish the layup. clarify if I am further misreading (it is tax season after all) but don't think I am.

Richardson getting hit in the face obviously resulted in some sort of a brain injury. In the history of Oregon sports, that has to be one of the Top 5 all-time most incomprehensibly ignorant finishes to a game by an individual player.

I think I misinterpreted what you meant. Yeah ideally defenses would be OK with a layup but at the college level kids are gonna react and if someone is driving to the hoop there’s a good chance someone will instinctively step in for help defense or will get caught staring. To me seemed worth it to try and get Guerrier a look and while he’s a good shooter he’s not skilled at creating his own shot.

This is Oregon's worst team since 2011.

Lol, not true. Better than both, the 2017 and 2018. Remember Elijah Brown being the primary source of offense? The 2018 team would have been great if Bol was healthy, but once he was out, they struggled to score because they only had 2 guys that were legitimate offensive threats. They just learned to play elite defense at the end of the year and made a run. This team is also capable of making a run if it ever clicks for them. The talent isn’t the issue, it’s 4-5 guys trying to be the primary scorer rather than playing within the offense.
