It has become a hot spot for Oregon coaches. I've been told a few 2010/2011 kids had some coaches visit. Not sure what coaches and who was visited yet but thats a tip I got.

This is definately a good move. Texas produces more D1 talent than any other state but really only have 1 powerhouse program.

It's nice to be considered by the Florida kids but the distance will always play a factor there and there are 3 powerhouse in-state programs to compete with. Texas is half the distance Florida is. I don't see any reason why Texas can't become just like California for us.

I believe our long term success will come down to how well we can recruit in Texas.

Hopefully the future success of LMJ and DT will strengthen our ties there.

We've already created a pipeline in Texas, glad to see we are continuing that trend. Getting Lache IMO would be even a bigger boost to recruiting in the state of Texas.

Getting Dontae IMO is also a solid indication that we're really making inroads in Texas.

It's not like the case of Harper where he actually may have hurt us with Bryce Brown, it's the opposite in that DT's success last year and development this year allow him to speak positively of the Ducks to other Texas recruits.

That and having LMJ win Pac-10 frosh while breaking the single season frosh rushing record of the year probably helps a bit too.

Well....Imagine this scenario!

In 2011 or 12, with Masoli graduating, Darron Thomas steps in and has a good season along with the Ducks in general and leads us to 2nd in the pac (USC has to be the top dog again by then) and we go to the Alamo Bowl. This would be huge, with and all Texas backfield, and possibly Blake Cantu in the slot ripping down catches. Big time Texas connection there. This might get a few Texas kids interested in the Ducks riiiiiiight? The effect of having a bowl game in Texas also just helps all Pac-ten schools recruiting there.
Stewart Mandel-"From a purely aesthetic standpoint, I much prefer to watch a good spread-rushing offense over a traditional Power-I offense, and Oregon's has been the most fun by far for the past several years. It's fast, its precise, and when Chip Kelly has the right quarterback (Dixon, Masoli) at the helm, the possibility of someone ripping off a 60-yard run exists on nearly every play."

I like the way you think, all except that whole 2nd place stuff. USC can be studs and go to the Rose Bowl, we just gotta be bigger studs and go to the NC game!
