In hindsight I take a few deals last year but sucking this year helped me with Dirk and with the arrival of Divac this made too much sense.

Also deal is to be processed after FA

I agree

In the end, I knew I couldn’t build around Spree. I had no players with bird rights and would have to solely rely on tons of FA luck

I’d rather start with 1 true centerpiece and do a longer term rebuild

I like it for Blazers. I think they ended up dealing 7 1st and Dampier for Kobe…

I think that’s fair market value for him…

Grizzlies are stacked in the front court. Now they just need a PG.

^This. Isnt it usually 'young player who's not as good as the star' plus picks in exchange for the star?

I see it as

4 elite years of Sprewell vs 10-12 elite years of Kobe

I probably could have gotten it done for less, but I wanted to ensure (what I feel will be) a legit yearly mvp candidate for the next decade plus to build around. Age and additional seasons is why I felt the necessity to pay the price I did.

I mean if the 'elite' years are done at 32 then Kobe has to become 'elite' like...THIS year for you to be right about that lol
