Good for Gonzaga as a bargaining tool.
They don't want to travel that far, but they want their number to be high and that's how they can do it.
Kliavakoff has to nail this deal and it likely requires SDSU and Gonazaga sans football.

There were rumors of San Diego State joining that were eventually debunked.

Not before a new media deal anyways. The plan is to get a new media deal in place and then potentially add teams. Plus, they're also waiting for the UC Regents to meet on November 17th to know if UCLA is staying.DuckzRule wrote:There were rumors of San Diego State joining that were eventually debunked.

Would/could uncle phil subsidize this annual gap in football budget?StevensTechU wrote:The latest rumors is that the Pac-12 will be marginally above what the Big 12 is getting, topping at $35M/school/year. The Big Ten deal will pay out $60-$100M over its life. SEC deal is in the same area as the B1G deal, leaving Oregon in what is truly a second class financially. That's $50M more for coaches, recruiting, and anything else. Just an absolutely massive gap.

Who knows what he'll do when he passes away, but he's always resisted subsidizing the operating budget in favor of large capital projects. That's pretty normal with gift giving. People prefer to see something tangible and then get their name put on it.alxtw wrote:Would/could uncle phil subsidize this annual gap in football budget?StevensTechU wrote:The latest rumors is that the Pac-12 will be marginally above what the Big 12 is getting, topping at $35M/school/year. Brett McMurphy said the mutual interest between Gonzaga and the Big 12 is growing.
In other news, today's the day where we will know if UCLA will stay in the Pac-12 or move to the Big Ten.

Turns out the "UCLA to the Big Ten" decision won't be finalized until December 14th

The group that pushed for NIL opportunities is now pushing the UC Regents to reject UCLA's move to the Big Ten.

They’re 100% correct, this was a silly and impatient move by USC and UCLA (mainly USC). If somehow USC and UCLA are forced to stay in the PAC-12 I could see Kliavkoff getting a tv/streaming deal as good as the B1G with the new coaches in the conference, mainly PrimeTime.greenyellow wrote:The group that pushed for NIL opportunities is now pushing the UC Regents to reject UCLA's move to the Big Ten.

I would note that Amazon’s viewership is only 2/3’s of what we did with it at FOX, but we paid a fraction of what Amazon pays, and we lost money. Amazon is hemorrhaging money from the deal. Nobody will say it because they want to pump the value of OTT for sports as viable, but it’s just not there yet.pezsez1 wrote:I'd also like to throw in that I'd LOVE for the Pac-12 to go all-in with a streaming partner like Amazon Prime. Anything to hasten the end of cable deals as they are today would be fantastic.
The Thursday night NFL games have been doing great on Amazon Prime and it's a stunningly beautiful broadcast product.

SC is private. No one is forcing them to stay.

I think the question is, does the BIG take them without UCLA?buckmarkduck wrote:OregonFan4Life wrote:They’re 100% correct, this was a silly and impatient move by USC and UCLA (mainly USC).
