I don't think his work ethic would allow him to sit out, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say he'll be told by management to stay home.

Yeah, Dame locked any door to returning to play along Scoot as a SG the day after FA started and he demanded out.

This seems like an easy thing to type from your armchair. What plan were they supposed to have after they spent the last decade building the team around Lillard only to have him pout and ask for a trade because they actually dared to use their own draft pick? The dude is almost 30% of their active roster payroll and they don't know what they can get coming back for him, so yeah, some things are still up in the air. That tends to happen when a guy under contract for four years comes out publicly asking for a trade.

The plan is pretty obvious - get whatever you can for Lillard and then start again with Scoot, Sharpe, and Ant (and Grant). If Lillard hasn't sapped all the energy from the team, it's a better plan than they've had since Aldridge took off.

If anything, the Jody/Bert plan is most likely "get maximum value for Lillard" without any regard to the basketball. It actually isn't fair of me to pin that on Cronin. I don't think he has any real influence.

I love what Dame has done in Portland and will cheer for him every game he plays elsewhere (except against Portland).

I just think it's in the best interest of the franchise to move on now. Try to get Dame to a contender, but get as much as they can in return.

Dame may not want to go to Boston, but he could win a championship there. Utah has a LOT of assets to offer.

It needs to happen soon.

Rumors that Toronto is entering the chat. I guarantee money-grabbing Lillard does not want to be traded to a place where the taxes are so high, especially with no income tax in Miami. So the question in my mind is whether this is a bluff-calling measure by the Blazers to get Lillard to agree to other teams.

Toronto is where Portland was a couple of years ago. They can't decide if they should go all in, or rebuild. They have the assets to give up, but would that leave them enough to win like Lillard wants?

Blazers got Jrue Holiday, who they'll likely flip, Deandre Ayton, Toumani Camara, MIL 2029 1st round pick, right to swap 2028 and 2030 with MIL. All picks are unprotected.

They did trade aware Nurkic, little and Keon Johnson, whom all ended up with the Suns.

Well the team is now in a pretty great situation cap wise and there's a chance those picks in 28,29,30 might start paying off right as Scoot/Shae/Atyon hit their primes.

I'm going to assume that there really weren't better offers on the table to essentially come away with Ayton and picks as the prize and that's okay.
