Short term thinking IMO. In this class we already have Terrance Mitchell, James Scales, Troy Hill and soon Dior Mathis. At WR? Nobody. And last year we only got one good (two including Cantu) freshman WR's. Lowe would be a great Tazer/ slot for us IMO.

Agree. I think we might have not been looking to him as WR while we were in it for McCartney and others. As the WR fell off the board the need for at least 1 WR makes Lowe more attractive at that position.

The darnest of things happens once you get to college regarding your position.

I'm wondering if this is going to be one of those where we don't hear anything more until signing day & Lowe just sends his LOI to the Ducks instead of UW. Or should we expect a public decommit & commitment soon?

Hmmm good thought. That would be pretty sweet considering how bad we've done in past all star games  . Mathis & Lowe? Sounds good to me.

I am not convinced any player should be pre determined to be "not good enough" for a given position.

After seeing Samie Parker and Keenan Howry, size is definitely not a limitation at WR. Some of the greatest efforts and biggest hearts I have seen in an Oregon receiver were from smaller statured players.

These were players before UO was running CK's offense, which requires a whole lot of blocking by the WRs (a reason JWill was so valuable to the offense - even when he wasn't catching balls he was clearing huge pathways on the outside). Not to say they wouldn't contribute now, but I imagine it's part of the reason we haven't seen any small WRs like that involved in the offense the last three seasons.

This post is entirely correct. Hence the recruitment of Brandon Williams, Curtis White, and Christian Thomas. I see a lot of two TE sets because of blocking.

And don't forget Dion Jordan, already in house and in the system for two years at this point! I hope he gets a chance to contribute next season... with that size, if he can put it all together he can potentially be a bigger matchup nightmare than Dickson was

JWill was by far one of the worse blocking wr's Oregon's had in recent memory. JJ, Colvin, both injured on plays where JWill completely misses his block. Garren Strong was the guy that was on the field for his blocking skills, and when you look at succesful wr screens it involved Ed and Garren blocking.

yeah, before his senior year he had some problems. His senior year he was fantastic though. He took a lot of responsibility for those injuries and blocked great (from what I remember) his senior year. I recall plenty of highlights where he blocked multiple guys at once or blew up more than one player in a single long run.

i remember that block, and even a broken clock is right twice a day. jwill, just like cam, is another example of having one of the more talented players in the nation, but not being able to maximize their talent.

When Jwill wanted to block he was a beast. Obviously when he didn't even try he was terrible just like anybody would be.

Like in the Holiday Bowl when he blew up two OSU players on JJ's long TD run. Love watching that highlight for those blocks. Also, I think he was blocking two beavers at the same time during Dickson's TD. Don't remember him missing too many blocks his senior year, do remember some great ones though...
