Re: Hot seat
The plandemic cost him a legit chance at a National Championship. Bet things would look different if that would not have happened have happened.

Re: Hot seat
Having to face so many top-20 teams with his most inexperienced one has not been easy. If he does get another year, he's got to find some actual talent that can score and play defense.

Re: Hot seat
So this team was destroyed by the transfer pool. Assuming the administration knows the root causes of the transfers, if they are KG's fault he is on the hot seat. If the transfers are due to factors beyond his control (NIL competitiveness? trophy chasing? Home sickness?) his resume before and at Oregon would indicate it would be foolish to not let him try to turn it around.
Rueck @ OSU has been devastated by the transfer pool the last few years and had a season much like Oregon is having this year. With just one year of roster stability and a plus transfer result for once he has OSU flirting with the top 10 again.
The last point is WBB in the PAC-12 is different than any other sport. Oregon's men will likely get 20 wins again and can finish 3rd in the conference. They will play 1 team in the top 25 RPI and 1 team in the top 50. The women will play 3/4 of their games against teams in the top 25 and half of their games against Top 10. In the PAC12 a Women's team with an RPI like the Oregon men's team has would be favored in 4 conference games or less.
I expect some of the teams going to the ACC, Big12 and Pac-2 might be losing some good players. This year KG needs to win the Transfer wars.

I agree with you and think the Rueck comparison is a good one, Lombardi might be a better comparison. She didn't have the track record that KG has and the administration put up with a few years of struggles and it appears that she finally has roster stability and a program that is trending upward. None of us will ever know why the 2020 class imploded, but the stress of the pandemic and being so far away from home was a factor. Did the 2020 class take official visits or were visits done by Zoom? I don't remember how they were done.

You can’t tell me that Graves works even 50% of what Lanning and staff do at recruiting. To be an elite team, you have to have elite players.
