With OSU being eliminated from baseball and Oregon right before, the Pacific-12 Conference has played its last event together as a conference. Pour one out boys, end of an era. Oregon's BIG10 official join date is August 2.

I personally don't think we've seen the last of some iteration of the Pac. That travel schedule is going to get to some schools. It might not be the same 10-12 as it was before, but I think some schools on the West Coast are going to rethink their recent decisions and avail themselves of obvious geographic advantages.

In Pac-12, Half our flights to road games were 2-3 hours flights.

Except Rutgers, Penn State, and Maryland, all our flights are about 4 hours. And realistically, we will probably only have a road trip to one of those teams on average a year.

The time zone difference is probably the biggest bummer, but we will still play Washington every year. I actually think the travel for most sports isn't a big deal.

Yeah, I disagree. The Pac 12 never traveled well, and now that travel time is about to double. Not just for teams, but also for fans. There is a reason why the top SEC teams avoid traveling like the plague. In football, the teams only play once, but basketball plays more. It's even worse for Stanford and Cal - I think they will be the first to bring up getting the band back together. I look at pro sports in my lifetime, and they have all reshuffled divisions to be more regional. If the pros think it is advantageous, the students in college more so.

Anyway, we'll see. Obviously, the schools are locked in to this situation for awhile.

Stanford and Cal, I'll give you. But for Oregon, I'm not worried. To me the difference between a 2-3 hour flight vs a 4 hour flight is minimal (unless I'm traveling with kids).

I'm more worried about playing road games in cold weather, time shift, boring Big Ten basketball, etc.

Spokane - 1 hr 14 minutes
Stanford and Berkeley - 1 hr 10 minutes
Salt lake City - 1 hr 44 minutes
Boulder - 2 hrs 28 minutes
Tempe - 2hrs 27 minutes
Tucson - 2hrs 36 minutes

I looked up a couple of places in the Big 10 and they were around 4.5 hours (ann arbor was one). Each marginal hour really takes a toll also, at least it does for me. Like I said, there is a reason pro teams all went more regional.

Totally agree. The +4hr flights are never an issue. Its the time zone difference of 2-3 hours that can really throw you off of your sleep pattern/quality and energy/alertness the next day. On the flip side, these are 18-22 year olds and the body is amazingly resilient and full of limitless energy at that age. To be young...

8/12 pac 12 teams don’t even travel to their own home games. The fan support and the California schools is abysmal. They didn’t travel well because their fan bases suck. UO fans will travel and most big teams will travel far better than anyone in the old pac.
