MBB adds late international wing commit

Post by greenyellow »

Oregon has added a late commit to the team as Ukrainian wing Oleksandr Kobzystyi has joined the roster. Can't hurt to have a little more depth with their typical injury issues.

A lot more athletic and quick than I was expecting.

Can he shoot though?

They teach fundamentals over there. I am guessing yes.

I was looking at those FIBA championship stats, and he shot 18% from 3, but certainly wasn't afraid to take them. Hopefully it's just a result of a small sample size, as it was only 7 games, but he shot 37 times from 3 in those 7 games, so he definitely doesn't lack for confidence. hah. I was happy to see he is seemingly a good free throw shooter, as he shot 83% from FT, averaging about 6 attempts per game. I assume he's coming in a freshman, which is interesting, since he's already 21 years old. I wonder if he plans to be there for a while, or if this is a 1 year stop. This is so completely out of the blue, I don't know what to expect. He could be a sneaky good pickup, or a Roman Sorkin type. The possibilities are all over the map for me.

18%! Just that stat line alone makes me think he’ll be a project.

Never hurts to have a capable extra body though… especially with the way Oregon basketball teams get injured lately.

Super smooth. Oozes potential.

Needs to improve his shot/strength.
