Mariota

is in for the commanders. And just like clockwork, his receivers drop 3 catchable balls.

Marcus is now 10/14 for 119 yds and 2 tds and has rushed for 29 yards in relief of Jayden Daniels who left with a leg/foot injury? Quinn got the backup QB he wanted, his starter for a minute in Atlanta. Great to see Marcus have success.

That's amazing. I wonder if it kind of cheapens what Daniels has been doing that Marcus cam trot in and have similar results.

What if Marcus ends up in the playoffs? That would be something. 3 QB's from Oregon starting in the NFL at the same time has to be a first.

Hoping Marcus steals the job. He's my favorite Oregon QB of all time and I'm gutted that he didn't end up being a franchise QB in the NFL.

I can 100% assure you he’s not stealing the job. I love the guy, but he has proven that his ceiling is a capable backup in the NFL on a winning team. Daniels has also looked really good and there’s no chance he’s getting benched for Mariota.

With the Bears on a Bye, it means only Oklahoma is starting more than 1 QB in the NFL with Baker and Kyler this week in play.

Normally Oregon is tied with LSU (Daniels, Burrow), USC (Williams, Elliott) Oklahoma (Baker, Kyler) and Bama (Hurts, Tua) with 2 starting QBs.

I love seeing Mariota have some success, but I wouldn’t put too much stock into today’s game. The Panthers are the worst team in the NFL. As much as I hate to say it, as I disliked him in college, Daniels is legit. I have a hard time seeing the Commanders making the playoffs if Daniels is out for an extended period of time, though seeing him on the sidelines today, I don’t expect him to be out long.

I made my comment with no knowledge of the extent of Daniels' injury, but if he was out for an extended period, I still think Washington would have a good chance of making the playoffs with Marcus, which is why I was musing on the prospect of Marcus playing in the playoffs. The 40 points Mariota and Co. hung on the Panthers was more than their season average, so it is at least a data point in Marcus's favor and not something to be immediately dismissed.

I personally think Marcus does not have the body to be an NFL QB other than in short stints, but I also think this about Daniels. Eventually, that body type and playing style seems to break down like RG III did. So Marcus will likely have other chances to play if he stays as Daniels' back up.

Hurts is OU, not Bama.

His first td pass was to Ertz which is sadly significant for some of us.
