This is just so soft to me and why we need to add a rule that a player needs to stay at a school for at least 2 years and getting rid of the redshirt and having 5 years of eligibility. Players can’t bail on their NFL contracts this quickly, so why should college players?
In the era of NIL where players are being compensated, further pushing college football to NFL Jr. status, I like the above requirements. Obviously, allowing wiggle room for family hardships or coaches leaving, but this would allow for at least SOME stability. Because if this continues, I'm not sure there's going to be many more coaches left who want to pour into a recruit only to see them leave last minute on Signing Day or even after enrolling in school.

This isn't true. Off the top of my head, I can think of a bunch of guys that transferred early due to competition @ QB:

-Joe Burrow
-Cam Newton
-Baker Mayfield
-Kyler Murray

Some that transferred later, but due to competition:
-Minshew
-Jalen Hurts

Sometimes you have a loaded QB room.

For Burrow, I think it was Justin Fields....Newton was Tebow....For Hurts, it was Tua.

May be a good sign that our guy from UCLA is legit.

I read some rumors Mendoza ran him off with some pretty nasty text messages. Now that Mendoza is leaving CAL for Indiana, Cal became an option again.

None of those guys transferred 1 week in though. If he waited a year I wouldn’t feel this way but to literally transfer 1 week in is pretty soft to me.

Nasty as in hazing type "you're a worthless goat" or nasty as in describing the nightlife/party treatment?

Not even remotely comparable to a guy who up and transfers after a couple weeks of practice.

lol hilarious quote by Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele:

“I just felt that I wasn’t a main priority at Oregon…I’m just looking at other QB rooms and the best place for me to go get on the field early.”

What a diva! Glad we dodged this bullet.

Oh snap... I thought he had been with us the whole year. Didn't know he was a 2025 recruit. Shows how much i pay attention to recruiting!

Ya, that negates my comparisons.

Isn't Akili Smith Jr a better recruit anyway? Not much of a loss.

Yea, that's not a good look. That's really too bad. There's a spectrum of teams on one side where you're likely to win the most and teams on the other side where you're going to get on the field the soonest. I don't fault kids one bit for wherever on that spectrum is most important to them. Just stinks that he had the realization after signing day.

… did he not realize we had other QBs on the roster? Or was he expecting the coaches to prioritize him over the 3 other 4/5* QBs who’ve been on the team for a year? Like STU said, I don’t blame him for wanting to start but very strange that he assumed he was going to get preferential treatment at a top 5 program.

I don't think it's diva to want to be the guy as a freshman. He's clearly talented enough to potentially start for a big 4 conference team. It's just ridiculous to me he couldn't have looked at our depth chart at made that decision before he signed with us.

So diva? Maybe. Poor evaluator? Definitely lol.

He’s a diva for saying he didn’t feel like he was a priority for a team getting ready for a playoff game.
