First time I've watched the women's team this year. People say the men's team is a tough watch...

I admittedly am pretty ignorant when it comes to the women's team, but I expected much more from Kyei. Did not walk away impressed with her game at all. If I recall, she had very little basketball experience before coming to Oregon, so I suppose it makes sense. With her size, she should absolutely dominate, but is really limited skill wise and athletically.

Ducks nearly gave that game away with a bunch of bad turnovers and missed FTs. Lucky that Scott and Muhammad got them those final FTs to finally put it away.

She had good days and bad ones. She had some games where you see a WNBA player and fixture on the Canadian national team for years to come, and then others it just seems like she's still working on figuring it out.

The game was a tough watch in the second half but a tough listen the whole game long. The announcers made Vanderbilt the storyline the whole damn time and I found it incredibly annoying.

Glad the Ducks regathered instead of faultered. On to Duke!

Wow. The Ducks played their best ball of the year for the first 3 quarters, then almost blew it all in the 4th. It definitely didn't look good going into OT. In OT, nearing the end, the Ducks kept going 50/50 on the free throws, which is about what the finished percentage wise. But the last miss worked out, as the Ducks grabbed an offensive rebound and were able to take some more time off the clock. Finally, 2 free throws pushed the lead to 4, and that was it.

Kyei started the year injured and after her return she had a major regression from the year before. She is now extremely inconsistent, being dominate some games and a negative on the floor in others. Oddly she often struggles against smaller guard oriented teams where they have quick players going after the ball when she starts to bring it down and gets beat by fast players defensively. She seems to have lost some foot speed and mobility from last year as well.

The star big name transfer Deja Kelly is mirroring TJ Bomba this year. After scoring 17 a game for four years in the ACC she is scoring 11 per game at Oregon because her 3 point shot which was always so-so became absolutely atrocious this year. She still is probably the teams MVP this season despite her shooting woes. She is a master at drawing fouls.

In the last couple of games particularly the end of this one where they gave up a 15 point lead in the last 5 minutes they missed the German player Elisa Mevius who had season ending surgery a couple of games ago. She is my pick for team Co-MVP as the teams best defensive player, ball handler and assist maker.

Women's basketball is a different watching experience and this team's strength is playing ugly defensive basketball and winning close games in the last minute though most of the season they had Mevius making plays and free throws at the end of games.

They also are a tough team to coach as other than Kelly and Mevius there are 8 other players who sometimes are the best player on the floor and sometimes disappear. Etute and Whitfield didn't play a minute and they are in that category.

If Ari Long isn't in that category, she's close to it, It seems like she has 2 minutes to prove herself and if she doesn't, she's back to the bench.
