Great article, thanks for sharing. Being a Blazers fan, I guess I should be used to the heartache and constant 'what ifs' that are associated with the game. In a way, the 2020 Women's team is the hardest 'what if' pill to swallow. They did everything right. They didn't miss a shot or fail to draft Jordan. They played, they won, and outside circumstances took their opportunity away.

After reading that, part of me wonders if that was just too big of a setback for Graves to handle ... maybe a piece of his basketball soul is gone and can't be returned.

FWIW, they would have steamrolled through that Tournament. None of my teams have ever been that dominant with the possible exception of the 77 Blazers but I wasn't alive and only have books, interviews, and YouTube to rely on there. They dismantled that Stanford squad (that would go one to win a Natty a year or two later) with absolute ease. They beat Team USA.

My wife and I had bought tickets to that Portland regional too ... what a sendoff to the Final Four that would have been!
