2026 DL Viliami Moala decommits
Oregon has lost a DL commit as 2026 3* DL Viliami Moala has decommitted. He'll also be transferring from Willamette HS to a HS in Alabama. Wonder if this is more Oregon backing off as they look to add higher-rated guys.

His offer list is strong, but he's unanimously ranked pretty low. Wish him well!

Oregon is in a great position for Deuce Geralds so losing Moala might not be too big of a deal. Plus, with who he tagged in his tweet, he definitely got poached by a HS in Alabama because of the Tagovailoa family connection down there.UOducksTK1 wrote: Mon Jul 07, 2025 3:19 pm His offer list is strong, but he's unanimously ranked pretty low. Might be the strangest reason Oregon has ever lost a recruit. Lanning didn't push him out and tried to keep him but they couldn't promise help with his dad's immigration status.

Lanning is too honest and has too much integrity to make a promise he can’t guarantee.

Best of luck to the kid, but for a school to make that kind of promise is pretty wild

And that makes me very happy. Hope he never changes.OregonFan4Life wrote:Lanning is too honest and has too much integrity to make a promise he can’t guarantee.

Is it that much of a shock to think that a booster who has the money to pay into NIL would also be the kind of person who knows lobbyists or is willing to fork over cash to re-election and slush fund accounts for something like this?squintsdd wrote: Mon Jul 07, 2025 7:18 pm Best of luck to the kid, but for a school to make that kind of promise is pretty wild

Absolutely. NIL hasn’t changed dirty money at all. It just launders it in a different fashion.Duck07 wrote: Mon Jul 07, 2025 7:57 pmIs it that much of a shock to think that a booster who has the money to pay into NIL would also be the kind of person who knows lobbyists or is willing to fork over cash to re-election and slush fund accounts for something like this?squintsdd wrote: Mon Jul 07, 2025 7:18 pm Best of luck to the kid, but for a school to make that kind of promise is pretty wild

The wild part is to make those promises just to get a kid to a school to play football. If the booster has that kind of pull, maybe just offer it to the kid with no strings attached. Imagine being in that kids shoes, just to find out that they can't actually do as they say. They just wanted his signatureDuck07 wrote: Mon Jul 07, 2025 7:57 pmIs it that much of a shock to think that a booster who has the money to pay into NIL would also be the kind of person who knows lobbyists or is willing to fork over cash to re-election and slush fund accounts for something like this?squintsdd wrote: Mon Jul 07, 2025 7:18 pm Best of luck to the kid, but for a school to make that kind of promise is pretty wild

My heart goes out to his family and their attempts to be together.
Everyone else is... not great. This is a good reminder that there are many states in the U.S. that have Soviet levels of corruption and wheeling & dealing.

This is sad. Hopefully they're able to be together again without having to leave their home behind. And yeah, shame on those who pounced on a horrible situation to improve a football team. I wish that Viliami could know better, but desperate people latch onto desperate things.

Re: 2026 DL Viliami Moala decommits
We are getting a lot of immigration-related stories lately on social media, etc. and some are very sad, but pretty much all of them have one thing in common - that the initial reporting and details are nearly always wrong or so incomplete as to mask the truth in a political narrative. I've gotten pretty used to waiting until the real story comes out before having an opinion. I just wish the kid and his dad well and hope we get some good D-linemen on signing day.

Moala just responded to Jhop’s tweet with a facepalm emoji, bringing into question if JHop is accurate or not with that rumor.
