Played 30 games this last season and in 16.1 mpg he averaged:
5.1 ppg 4.9 rpg and 1.1 bpg while shooting 59.3% FGs and 34.3% FTs

Also he was pursued by other big schools. So agreed, a nice pickup this late in the game.

Would have loved to have Mbiya instead but Demir should be a serviceable backup to Bittle. Must be talented if both UCLA and Kansas were after him.

I don’t think we’ll need to worry about him being about to compete physically. He looks like a grown man.

This is just judging from the 1 video posted above, but he seems to move really well for a big man. His touch around the rim isn't terrible either. Of course, you have to hope he never gets fouled, but there's something to work with that. Will be a fun guy to watch.

I wonder if he’ll start alongside Bittle and if Evans will come off the bench, Bittle is a finesse big so it might help him to be paired with another big who just rebounds and blocks shots. Then again last year Altman had all offense with the starting rotation and all defense with the second unit, I just hope we don’t see this guy getting some lot post iso low Supreme Cook did last year, that was really tough to watch.

Demir won't be ready to give 25 minutes a game. Someone compared Chinyelu to Demir on 247, which I think is a good assessment. In his first year at Wazzu, he played 13 mpg, then the year after at Florida, 19 mpg. I'd expect somemthing super similar. 12-15 mpg his first year with us, and 18-25 mpg next year (depending on development and who else we add in the offseason).

I figured he’d play limited minutes, and even in the scenario I gave where Evans came off the bench he’d play significantly more minutes than Demir, just wondered if Bittle might at least starting the game alongside another big who can do the grunt work while he focuses on scoring.

Yeah I could see us starting a bigger lineup in some situations.

As soon as his plane lands, shuttle him directly to the FT line.
