Watching UCLA’s offense and their playcalling makes me feel validated in my criticism of Will Stein. I know Penn State is down and unmotivated but I don’t believe Penn State has the athletes to stick with Oregon’s offense but Stein’s obsession of being “efficient” and the short yardage run game with Whittington and Limar seemed to really limit the offense last week. I know the crowd was a factor and the offense made a few mistakes but if the passing game was opened up and if we utilized Hill’s speed more on the edges I don’t see any reason why Oregon could’ve have ended the game by the 4th quarter and put up at least 30 points in regulation. Maybe he will as the season goes on but I do question if Stein’s playcalling/strategy is best for this team and the ceiling this passing offense has.

Even with as good as Oregon's defense is, I think the playcalling last we designed to keep Penn state's offense off the field. Despite how they currently look, they returned almost all their skill position players from last year and have an explosive offense.

If that truly is the strategy, keep Penn State’s offense in the field, that seems to be a real lack of faith in our offense and if Stein lacks faith in Moore and the receivers that is on him.

Yeah that’s true, and I’m fully aware if this Penn State team showed up last week ducks blow them out, I just sometimes feel Stein is too timid and hyper focused on “efficiency” rather than utilizing the strengths of this offense. Lots of OC’s would dream of having the personnel Stein has this year.

For those who think that was bad play-calling from Stein in that game there's nothing you can do to change their minds because you can't prove the alternative. Even Ducks vs Them showed how the entire game strategy throughout the week wasn't about trying to land knockout shots with every punch, but 1,000 cuts.

You try and take big shots and you can make yourself vulnerable and the gameplan of risk management for a young team prevailed and we saw what we had from Moore. A riskier approach may not only have caused us to lose, but to break some of the players confidence that they otherwise gained.

Ohio State's biggest wins are a narrow victory over an overrated Texas team at home, and a win against a washington team that is in the lower half of the Big Ten. Just saying this for the crowd that doesn't think Oregon has proven much.
