I had the Ducks scoring 45 points today. Seems they would have easily attained that but for those horrid officials.

How can Lanning issue a complaint without being censured?

Well that's a well-earned win considering the uphill battle with the officials. Even with that, there's a lot to clean up before next week's effort to put down the mangy, rabid mutts.

Dan Lanning is now 45-7 overall as Ducks head coach. This compares pretty well with Chip Kelly, who was 46-7 overall during his four seasons at the helm. Dan can, of course, tie that mark by finishing off the mutts next week. If that happens, everything else this season is gravy, as I never expected this team to grab a playoff spot this year.

I'm a little behind since I had to record the game. 1st half officiating was actually called pretty good. 2nd half officiating was atrocious

Thoughts on this game:

Offense did an admirable job considering the circumstances. We had a patchwork offensive line that was out Poncho, World, and Harkey occasionally. 3 starting WR's out too, with McClellan getting banged up mid game too. That's just brutal. Credit to DL for building up the depth on this team - this team would have crumbled after losing so many key players if someone else was leading the show.

BUT as much as the offense deserves recognition for overcoming so much adversity, it doesn't look like the offense that we would want heading into December (for obvious reasons with so many people out I suppose). There were so many opportunities to put this game away but the offense managed to stall exactly when USC needed it to, to keep USC in the game until the 6 minute drive in the 4th quarter.

Defensively, front 7 played well. USC never had a great run game to start with but they did an excellent job against the run. Pass defense is harder to judge. This USC passing offense is incredibly aggressive and that passing attack looks so difficult to defend against. The USC QB throws with reasonable accuracy and gives his WR's lots of opportunities to make plays on the ball. And this works out so well since they have some incredible WR's. That being said, the secondary is a bit overrated. Finney has had a great year but he hasn't been challenged. He hasn't had a lot of calls against him throughout the season but I've seen him make plenty of grabs/hand fighting that weren't called (in prior games). All this is to say that the pass defense isn't as great as people thought it was, but maybe it's also because USC has an exceptional passing attack.

Flowers is a heat seeking missile. We haven't had an enforcer in the secondary for years (last I can remember is Boyett) so this is a welcome sight to see.

Side note - those announcers were annoying. They called Gary Bryant, "Barnett" in the 1st quarter. Then got the Boettcher TD defensive personnel wrong twice. Didn't include Washington first time, repeatedly called Grace, Tuioti after the 1st correction (can't they at least read). They botched another player's name in the 2nd half too.

Just wanted to give a shoutout to Charlie Pickard! He played very well after Poncho’s injury.

Great win. Really impressed with the OL play despite all the injuries. There was a drop off but it was surprisingly small.

Missing 6 starters on O, 3 OL and 3 WR, and still win by 15. Eat it SC
