I think Ole Miss is pretty much in even if they lose. An Auburn win would be nice to see though

If Ole Miss loses and Lane Kiffin bolts, which I think will happen, I’d imagine they’d miss the playoffs and fall behind Bama, Oklahoma, Miami, and BYU. The committee has shown they consider departing coaches and injuries, I don’t see a coaches 10-2 Ole Miss making the playoffs.

The committee won't drop them that far, especially since they won in Oklahoma. Unfortunately I think Ole Miss is a lock

Yeah, it would be fun to see Miss. St., Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), Texas (I'm very confident they still wouldn't get in) and Michigan each knock off its respective top 10 foe, even though I don't see it knocking any of those teams out of the playoff. But I do think Auburn winning would remove Alabama from the playoff. And I would love to see Pitt remove any possibility of Miami getting in.

Btw, Arizona (25) and ASU (20) are indeed ranked in the CFP rankings.

I live in Tempe and it is going to be an absolute ZOO here Friday. I’m not driving anywhere near the stadium Friday. From living here since August I’m learning this is a bitter little rivalry. Both sides really lean into it and it’s a low-key simmering hatred. I’ve been impressed. I get a lot of crap for the green and yellow I wear most days, but ASU folks connect with us because of the Dilly connection…the Cats however still hate us moreso because of Dana and the boys. Friday is gonna be interesting around these parts.

Of the projected 12 teams to make the playoff, I think the groupings going into the final weekend are:

Can afford a loss: Ohio State, Indiana, A&M
Can probably afford a loss: Georgia, Texas Tech
Probably can't afford a loss: Oregon, Ole Miss
Lose and you're out: Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Alabama, Virginia, Tulane

Pac-12 still does it for me. I feel crazy, but I'm more interested on ASU vs UofA than the Texas/A&M game.

The Aggies getting exposed feels like bad news for the Ducks. If Oregon loses tomorrow, the people with influence will be demanding they get passed by Texas. If Oregon wins, they may pass Texas A&M in the standings and end up on Ohio State's side of the bracket again. I know there are a lot of moving parts still, but in surveying the field it feels like either the sixth or third seed will be better for a deep playoff run than fourth or fifth. I'm not sure Oregon can get to third unless the Buckeyes lose to Michigan, which opens up another can of worms with the conference championship game.

I'm not as concerned about Ohio State this year as I was last year. They're obviously a very good team, but they haven't really played any fellow power teams. They beat Texas in the season opener 14-7 before Arch Manning got his legs under him. I'm not sure they'd win a rematch. They beat UW in Seattle in a competitive game, but other than those, I'm not overwhelmed by them. If they make it to the conference championship game, I think Indiana will beat them.

Heather Dinich (of ESPN) thinks that Texas highest ranking would be #12, which wouldn't be enough to get them in the playoff. It's a shame for them, as they played A&M, Georgia and Ohio State this year, as well as #8 Oklahoma, and went 2-2 against those teams. The loss to Florida is coming back to haunt them.

OSU, Indiana, and A&M all appear to be locks. Texas Tech should also be in even if they lose to BYU next week, but that would also guarantee BYU a spot.

Alabama, and possibly Georgia, are on the fence. If Alabama beats Auburn today, they'll have a rematch with Georgia in the SEC championship. If they lose that game they'd have 3 losses and likely be out. That would put Mississippi in the SEC championship game. On the hand, if Georgia lost to Alabama, that would force the committee to rank Alabama ahead of them. A BYU win would likely bounce Georgia out.

There are still so many scenarios. There could be 4-6 two loss teams fighting for the final playoff spots. That will be a nail biter for many fans due to their team's schedule strength, head to head matchups, and more. I guess we'll learn a lot today.
