DB Daylen Austin entering transfer portal

Post by greenyellow »

Oregon's secondary keeps taking hits as DB Daylen Austin will be transferring and sitting out the rest of the playoffs. Really hate how players have to enter the portal while the season is still going. Also, had high expectations for him next season with Canady and Theran Johnson gone.

So stupid. I understand he wants to get in the portal but he is going to miss a possible national championship ring. Just further shows how stupid the timeline of college football is.

So that's three DBs that are in the two-deep gone (Daylen at nickel, Sione at corner, and Kingston at safety) before the season is over. Good lord.

I would have thought Daylen would be the starter next year.

I’m gonna make a random prediction that Offord starts at nickel next season to replace Canady while Finney and Ify start at CB.

But yeah does suck to lose 3 DB’s. So incredibly stupid to have the portal window open before the season is over. Imagine if free agency starting in the NFL before the conference champ games.

Ugh, who advised this guy to do this? What a dumb move.

Weird, I thought that exception for players in the CFP was supposed to prevent this by extending their personal windows to transfer.

Hoping he decides to stay, but I'm sure someone will open their wallet for him

Stranger still due to his still pending legal issues. It is my understanding that he received special permission to travel for road games. Not sure how transferring is going to work for him.

I wonder if he just wants a change of scenery. Having personally been accused by the legal system of things I didn’t do, sometimes a fresh start is needed just to get your mind & heart right. No matter what actually happened, we need to remember, within a few miles of his residence, he was involved in a tragedy that cost another human being their life. That shakes you to your core and the fact he stuck it out with us for a few years showed the kid has some mental toughness and I am pulling for him to be exonerated and to be able to lead a happy, fulfilling and productive life.

Dionne was playing behind Theron for some crazy reason. If he can’t beat out Johnson, I don’t think he was ever going to contribute much here.

Austin makes me wonder if he’s just leaving due to legal stuff. I also believe he only had like 3 snaps on D yesterday. Which was about the same as Brew
