For those who dislike Stein - 2025 tOSU fun fact

Can we all agree 2025 tOSU is pretty damn talented on offense? Smith, Tate, Jackson, etc.

In their 3 hardest games UT, IU and Miami…they failed to break 14 points.

Maybe, and hear me out, it’s hard sometimes to move the ball against really good defenses? Even when you have elite offensive talent?

I don’t have any massive issue with Stein, but you’re comparing a first year coordinator and first time play caller to someone with a few years more experience in that role. Would tOSU have tolerated that level of play for 3 years, or would they make the changes necessary to win?

With the portal now, defense seems to have taken a step forward at the top. Defenses are way better in 2025 than in 2010

Last year, Ohio St dropped 41 on Oregon, 34 on Notre Dame, 42 on Tennessee, 28 on Texas, and won it all.

Chip left.

This year, Ohio St couldn't score on good teams this year and lost their first playoff game. And dropped a game to IU where they only scored 10.

The trend is very clear--if the goal is a championship, you need to be able to score on good teams.

Nothing about Ohio St's results changes the narrative with Stein. Ohio St needs to fix whatever went wrong with their offense. I don't follow them closely enough to be able to say if OC is the problem there.

Stein is going to get at least one more chance to prove his offense can score on good teams as Oregon's OC. If he drops 37-41+ on IU, Miami or Ole Miss, then he proves me (and everyone else who doubted him) wrong. I hope he does, the window is open, go Ducks.

And he can also prove it by turning Kentucky into a good team.

Stein has the likely #1 overall pick at QB and has yet to coordinate a great offensive performance against a quality defense this season. Against good defenses, our best offensive performance was 26 points against UW, 12 of which came via FGs.

PSU: 17 in regulation, 14 in two OTs
Indiana: 13 (defensive TD got us to 20)
Wiscy: 21
Iowa: 16 (safety got us to 18)
UW: 26
TTU: 23

Wisconsin and Iowa were both in terrible weather. I don't think this deserve critiquing as much as the other games. I think Stein's problem hasn't been moving the ball between the 20s, but actuality figuring out a way to finish those drives. I believe Oregon is top in the country in plays over 20 yards, but they're one of the worst at inside the redzone

Sure, but eliminate those two games and the point still stands.

Otherwise, I completely agree. The obvious issue is that from here on out, we will be facing quality defenses. And Stein and co have given us zero reason to expect a great offensive performance.

How old is he and how many STARTS does he have?

Is he calm, cool & collected 95% of the time or does he get rattled?

I love Dante’s tools. He reminds me of Aaron Rodgers. But he is young.
