Pushing 2 Years Now...Does Anyone Miss The Pac-12?

It's been nearly 2 full years now since we joined the Big-10. I don't remember the exact date.

Does anyone miss the Pac-12 Conference days?

I do in some ways, but for the most part, I don't.

If we weren't in a conference that had USC, UCLA and UW, I'd say yes, but since the best of the Pac(k) came with us, I'm not really upset.

Living in Arizona, I still keep up with ASU and UA. I also have a tendency to pull for Stanford and Cal, but it's so weird seeing them playing in the ACC. I also did for Utah, but not now since Whittingham left.

There'll always be so many memories from that era, but I'm not looking back.

I wouldn't be surprised to see even more conference realignment in the next few years.

Anyhow, I feel more at home now in the Big-10.

I still do. It was generally a more fun style of football to watch. 80% of B1G games are a slog, because the offenses are wretched. The conference is the same as always, 3-4 great teams and a bunch of teams that don’t have enough playmakers to even threaten an upset. Also, the mega conferences are dumb due to lack of scheduling equality within the conference year to year. Having 5 power conferences where nearly everyone played each other in conference was more optimal.

That said, from a football perspective it’s cool to travel to some new locations that otherwise wouldn’t have.

From a basketball perspective, I loathe it. A lot of that is due to the B1G scheduling. I loved the old Pac-12 scheduling format of Thursday/Saturday, or Friday/Sunday at home or a regional area. It made it more conducive to travel to games. Would much rather travel to attend 2 games over a long weekend than have to travel to 1 random game on a Tuesday night.

P12/10 always had a surprise team that would come out of nowhere (its ASU or cal or Wazzu) p12 after dark was so unpredictable and fun, the state of oregon owning USC at home, reasonable travel to all locations.

I do miss the game times as a father to young kids but that’s it. I know most fans hated it but it was easy to watch a night game with the kids in bed.

Outside of that, I don’t miss it too much, maybe Pac-12 after dark when it didn’t include Oregon.

I think like you said, we kept a key part of the Pac with us, so that helps alleviate some of the desire to be nostalgic.

I think it's good for Oregon. Better recruiting, more money, better competition, better odds at playoffs, etc.

#1 negative for me is actually traveling to road games. While it's fun to visit different stadiums, I miss going to Phoenix, LA, Salt Lake, and the Bay. It's a good excuse to see family/friends in those areas. More affordable flight (or even drive!). Planning a trip across the country takes a bit more time and money.

I'll agree with you on most of this. I really can't stand watching many other Big Ten football games since the offenses are so boring and it still feels like we have no connection with any of them outside of the West Coast schools.

Big Ten basketball scheduling is the worst as I constantly have to check the schedule since it's hard to remember what day they're playing, where they're playing, and which network it's on. Sometimes you'll have 3-4 days between multiple games and then you'll get a 5-7 days between games.
