Werner down to 2 per Rivals

Sounds like Oregon has a 50/50 chance.

From most sources out there the FSU people are very worried. Azz was in Conn yesterday and it's sounding more like 70/30 Ducks or better.

Forgive my ignorance, but is this Bjoern Werner, the DT prospect from Connecticut, orginally from Germany or something? Rivals only gives him a 5.6, a mid-3*. So the excitement is based on Scout's 4* rating and his offer list? Sorry, just trying to get up to speed.

It's mostly because he plays a position that is a huge need. Seems to be an underrted recruit, though.

Pretty much... the kids got a great offer list, and has a lot of room to get better.

ya, I dont think he will be an immediate impact guy, but could develop into a legit DT.

From what I've read, if he hadn't skipped his Junior year and gone back to Germany, he'd be a 4-star and attending the all-star games. He wasn't on anyone's radar until this fall, and now he was 15 offers.... pretty impressive.

Basically he is a player that oregon has been targeting for a while at a position that is in desperate need of talent. Just to repeat what's already been said, you have to look at a player's offer sheet in addition to their star level and Werner has a pretty good combination of both. Huff is a another player that doesn't have the greatest star rating, but has a ton of legit offers.

Thanks, that's very helpful. Because I tend to respect Rivals' rankings a little more than Scout's, I was a little puzzled -- even though I know we can get guys who will really contribute who aren't rated highly. I think of Tuinei, for instance.

Smart move to come to the US. At the least he will get a free college education. Not sure what opportunities the bigs have in Europe but it certainly wouldn't be in soccer.

I like our chances here alot.

If he was gonna commit to FSU, I think he would've done it on his visit. Especially w/ his BFF being 100% FSU.

Feeling good about him!

Great offer list and would help at a position of need for the ducks. Sounds good to me.

Look at the offer list, that's a good indicator of his talent level. Also, sometimes there are thousands of prospects out there, so some players might not ever get evaluated a 2nd or 3rd time around. So Rivals only give him a mid 3 star isn't a worry to me. He's definitely a four star talent.
