I'd take Ewin over Brennan but they just need one more big guy so either one should work.

Yeah I'd prefer interior defense and athleticism over inside scoring and rebounding personally at this point.greenyellow wrote: Sun Jul 26, 2026 3:53 pm I'd take Ewin over Brennan but they just need one more big guy so either one should work.

Sounds like Oregon will be getting Arkansas big man Malique Ewin after the NCAA's latest eligibility ruling for 2022 HS grads and holding off some big schools.
They're also connected to former Memphis G Dug McDaniel.

I assume this also effects the Women. I wonder if we take any late additions there.

How many roster spots do we have left? Ewin would be a huge pickup. A true PG would really round this out.

With how late this ruling came down, it sounds like teams can go over the roster limits to add them.HomeSickDuck wrote: Sat Aug 01, 2026 12:57 pm How many roster spots do we have left? Ewin would be a huge pickup. A true PG would really round this out.

Ewin is about as good of a late portal as you'd want. He's a good rebounder and solid low post scorer, something Oregon really needed for next year in the Big Ten.

Top 100 portal guy, basically our only one. Hopefully there's no setbacks on the judge's ruling.greenyellow wrote: Mon Aug 03, 2026 1:34 pm Ewin is about as good of a late portal as you'd want. Doesn't sound like he'll have much issue because he entered the portal in April before the deadline hit. Just need the extra year to stick.UOducksTK1 wrote: Mon Aug 03, 2026 3:11 pmTop 100 portal guy, basically our only one. Great to have two good shot blockers in the post like Ewin and Bowen. Would love to see them turn into another Jordan Bell and Chris Boucher-type combo. Both played heavy minutes in their teams' sweet 16 runs last March.
Taking a stab at the depth chart:
PG: Fred Payne, Jasper Johnson
SG: Tyrone Riley, Jerry Easter, Seven Spurlock
SF: Andrew Meadow, Dwayne Aristode, Tajh Ariza
PF:, Sean Stewart, Pharaoh Compton
C: Malique Ewin, Taylor Bol Bowen
After the initial relief at actually signing a point guard, it seems like that is still the weak position on the team - weaker than Oregon has been at point guard in a long time. I wonder if Coach Dana has any recruiting magic left. I'm pretty happy with the rest of the roster though. Lots of potential. Should be way more fun than last year.

Sounds like Wei Lin withdrew from the portal and will be returning next season. Just checked some of Oregon MBB's Instagram videos of summer workouts and Lin is indeed practicing with them.

Not on roster though so it’s possible he’s just practicing through summer before joining pro league or something like that.greenyellow wrote: Mon Aug 03, 2026 7:13 pm Sounds like Wei Lin withdrew from the portal and will be returning next season. We’ll see!
