The rationalization that some duck fans make when things dont go their way continues to amaze me
Mo Morris
Onterrio Smith
Terrance Whitehead
Jonathan Stewart
Jeremiah Johnson
LeGarrette Blount
LaMichael James
Kejon Barner

They all  at you..and that's just from the prior decade
You missed the point completely; I never said that we didnt have good running backs this decade. It is just funny to me how some fans mindset can change. When things looked good for us getting Lache many posters were saying that it would be a huge get and that he is the best RB in the nation, but now that we may not get him, it no longer matters because we will be fine and get others.

You could make the same statement about any position, with any recruit. What about if we didnt get Dennis Dixon? Would you say that isnt a big deal because we will find other QBs and reference Smith, Harrington, Clemens, etc?

not talking past tense dude!

Yes if we don't get Lake it would hurt, but as a ducky I like who we have if it don't pan out!

Just how things have gone with Easley and other recruits..not trippin' Dontae maybe just as good as "Lake"!! who knows! especially when we have young ponies!

Another factor may be one or both of those existing RBs transferring from Tennessee

He told Kiffin awhile back that he didn't want to go to Tennessee because they already have Bryce Brown. Evidently Kiffin has backed off him, as well as some other prominent schools. Not 100% sure of the reason for that, but the word is that Oregon is the team to beat.

That being said...

I'm not too worried about Seastrunk. Of course, it would be nice to have him, get a bit more attention for the program, bump up the rating of the recruiting class, etc...

However, we've got plenty of running backs and two of them, James and Barner are PROVEN at this level. Seastrunk hasn't done anything yet. Why get upset over possibly losing someone that has potential? A LOT of players have potential, but never realize it at the next level.

I have two things to say about all this recruiting hype.

#1. Boise State - Yeah, I hate em' too, but they went 14-0 this season and have only lost one game in three seasons. I don't see ANY five star players on that roster and very few four stars. We could argue about their strength of schedule all day long, but the fact of the matter is that they won every game except the Poinsettia Bowl last year and that was only a 17-16 loss to TCU.

Speaking of which...

#2. TCU - I believe they've recruited a few more rated players than Boise State has, but not many, and these guys have only lost three games in the past two years.

I understand how easy it is to get caught up in the hype of all this recruiting mumbo, jumbo. I do it too, but only to a point. There's no reason to get upset over kids that haven't done anything yet at this level of competition. Sure it would be nice to get a couple dozen 4 and 5 star kids every year, but it still doesn't mean anything.

I'm pretty confident that our excellent coaching staff will fill our roster with quality kids that can excel both on the field and in the classroom.

I've heard from DT and educk that the word is he's visiting Memphis, which is in Tennessee and in his top group of schools. Maybe that's the confusion...
"Huard's gonna go back to throw the ball. Sets up, looks, throws towards the corner of the endzone. It is... INTERCEPTED! INTERCEPTED! THE DUCKS HAVE THE BALL! Down to the 35! The 40! KENNY WHEATON'S GONNA SCORE!!! KENNY WHEATON'S GONNA SCORE!!! 20! THE 10! TOUCHDOWN!!! KENNY WHEATON, AN INTERCEPTION!!! THE MOST IMPROBABLE FINISH TO A FOOTBALL GAME!!!"

Yeah you're probably right. That sounds a lot more likely than Tennesse. The guy that was recruiting him to LSU is Memphis' coach now & I would expect Lache is visiting just as a courtesy to the coach.

There is a undeniable correlation between recruiting and National Championships. If we want to win a NC some day, we need to start landing Top-10 classes. This is a fact. The Rose Bowl was an excellent example of how important it is to have talent at every position, and not just at the "skilled" positions.

IMHO... the difference between us and Florida right now, is talent level at the offensive and defensive line.

Correction, DT and educk THINK he's visiting Memphis. Nobody really knows anything for sure.

This. We will not be winning any national titles until we start getting talent on the D-line.

This is what I've heard as well, but there are few other times during the year that rumor and speculation rule the day like the last couple weeks of recruiting season

Absolutely. I completely agree.
