#21 AP Poll
At this point, I would say this was generous. Oregon has shown NOTHING this year to even deserve a ranking.

I beg to differ. Boise State is a darned good football team. We didn't play our best game against them, but we still found a way to win.QuackininBama wrote: Sun Sep 13, 2026 1:10 pm At this point, I would say this was generous. Oregon has shown NOTHING this year to even deserve a ranking.
The Oklahoma State debacle was just that. They played above their heads and we were out if sync most of the game, allowing them to push us around when they had no business doing so.
I just hope we can shake it off, beat PSU and USC, and then see where we're at. We're not out of anything - yet, we've just put ourselves in a difficult situation, that's all.
Sometimes the better team doesn't win, that's all. There's still a lot of football to be played.

Silver lining…maybe…is that this one loss could do more to motivate the team than anything else.
Or we might just suck

#21 AP Poll
Comical that Oregon is ranked. I don’t think there’s a power 5 team they could have put away on Saturday.
Horrid game prep by the staff. Top to bottom. Most disappointed I’ve been by the Ducks since the Cristobal Stanford debacle.
OSU was about what I expected - good QB, some explosive plays, no shortage of effort - but they gave up two pick-6s and Oregon both kept them on the field and killed their own drives again and again and again.
Miracles can happen (See ND post NIU), but Oregon needs a big one.

Yup the unpreparedness is baffling. Oregon should have lost by 30 points.whosyourwally wrote: Mon Sep 14, 2026 2:20 pm Comical that Oregon is ranked. I don’t think there’s a power 5 team they could have put away on Saturday.

Ducks have a strong showing vs the bye and move up two spots to #13 in the AP poll. Kentucky and USC both win against decent opponents and go down in the poll, and Nebraska moves to 5-0 and isn't ranked. I am very curious how these voters will treat the extra SEC losses this year because of the new 9-game schedule. So far, there are nine SEC teams in the top 17.

Those losses will likely be easily metabolized by the SEC ecosystem, and every loss by the top team will just confirm how great the entire conference is.Phalanx wrote:Ducks have a strong showing vs the bye and move up two spots to #13 in the AP poll. And 9 teams in the top 17 already has them set up perfectly.

Yeah, Missouri climbed 11 spots after beating a Florida team that is obviously a pretender. If Florida keeps losing though, it won't matter because Missouri is now there to replace them. Kentucky waits for a similar meteoric rise if they should keep winning. Quite a routine.

Re: #21 AP Poll
Perfect example. Especially because neither team has been great recently. So the benefit of the doubt being given them is based mostly on SEC mythology, and very little to do with the teams/programs themselves.Phalanx wrote:Yeah, Missouri climbed 11 spots after beating a Florida team that is obviously a pretender. And there’s no mechanism for looking back and reevaluating the source of the ranking domino effect. Florida got their top 10 ranking for beating Ole Miss, who got their top 5 ranking for beating LSU who got their top 10 ranking for… hiring Lane Kiffin, I guess? They were 7-6 last year.
Oregon’s high preseason status each year is based on years of consistent elite play. Same for teams like Bama, Georgia, tOSU, etc. And teams without that have to prove they’re legit first (UCLA this year). The ranking system is flawed but there’s a logic beneath it that seems to be suspended when it comes to the SEC teams not named Bama or Georgia.
