Re: Dillon Baxter quote
From what I read, the NCAA can impose sanctions against programs that demonstrate a lack of over-all compliance. So, they shouldn't need to prove specific knowledge by specific individuals if they decide to basically punish the entire program for not doing due diligence to stay within the rules.PDXShogun wrote:The thing is, he's probably right. Unless the NCAA can prove that the athletic department or coaching staff had previous knowledge of the extra benefits to Bush or McKnight, that's about all that will happen. Proving that is extremely difficult to do.
It doesn't seem likely from what we're used to. But, they could come down hard on USC. I don't see how they have much of a choice really. Everyone knows about the issues there and everyone is waiting to see if rules matter or not. If they were to get a slap on the wrist, it might encourage other programs to not take the rules seriously.
I have a feeling that Baxter may be in for a Kiffin wake-up call when he finds out that Kiffin "saying all the right things" doesn't amount to a hill of beans.

I had a sales manager/trainer at one time who referred to it as, "Sales License"... Basically it infers that it is not lying if to make an untrue or exaggerated claim, as long as you get the signature where you want it.

Loved this post hahahaduck55 wrote:Even a slightly used Lex he parked in Tennessee?woundedknees wrote:Sounds like the kind of reasoning some teenage boys use to get their way... "Trust me, Baby! I won't... etc., etc., etc."
You get the picture.
I wouldn't buy a used car from the guy, either.

I agree. This amounts to telling a kid anything so long as they can get him to commit. Or saying it simpler, lying.hines wrote:i don't think there is a chance in hell Kiffin could know what type of sanctions SC will/won't get. Total BS.

I would think USC gets slapped pretty hard. They pretty much admitted to be guilty by trying to sanction themselves. I hope that is coming into consideration by the NCAA if it wasn't before.

No way the NCAA is coming down to hard on USC. It just
won't hurt it's biggest west coast program.

Read some of the earlier posts. No way in hell will the NCAA hurt USC too bad. They'd be shooting themselves in the foot.squintsdd wrote:I would think USC gets slapped pretty hard.
