MapleStory Classic World Cleric Training Guide U4N

Post by ParkerBlair »

The Cleric is a versatile support and magic damage class in MapleStory Classic World, but its leveling strategy is very different from what experienced players may remember. Changes to Heal have reduced its effectiveness against undead monsters, making Holy Arrow the primary offensive skill for second-job progression. To get the most out of the class, players need to balance INT and LUK, follow an efficient SP sequence, and choose training locations that match their level. A good understanding of MSCW Items can also make equipment planning easier as your character develops.

The Biggest Change to Cleric Gameplay
The most important adjustment is the reduction in Heal's damage against undead monsters.

In the original pre-Big Bang version, Clerics could use Heal as both an offensive and defensive ability. This made undead-focused grinding a popular strategy because players could damage enemies while recovering health.

Classic World reduces Heal's offensive damage to approximately one-third of its original value. As a result, using it as your primary grinding ability is no longer efficient.

Holy Arrow has become the main attack instead.

The ability launches three arrows in rapid succession. It can distribute damage among up to three targets or hit one enemy with all three projectiles.

This gives Clerics a more reliable offensive rotation. Heal still matters, but its main purpose is now to keep party members alive and manage health during difficult encounters.

Follow the Recommended AP Distribution
The updated AP system changes how Clerics should build their attributes.

Rather than following the old Full INT strategy, maintain LUK at exactly five points below your character level. Put every remaining AP point into INT.

Here is how the formula works:

Character Level LUK Target Remaining AP
30 25 INT
35 30 INT
40 35 INT
45 40 INT
50 45 INT
55 50 INT
60 55 INT
65 60 INT
70 65 INT
This distribution allows you to meet equipment requirements for staves and shields without unnecessarily reducing your magical damage potential.

INT should receive all remaining points because it supports the offensive performance of your main skill, Holy Arrow.

Make sure to check your LUK whenever you level up. Following the formula consistently is much easier than trying to correct a poorly distributed build later.

Magician Skill Progression: Levels 10–30
The first job is an important preparation stage. Your goal is to develop enough offensive power and mana efficiency to reach the Cleric advancement comfortably.

Energy Bolt is the recommended attack instead of Magic Claw.

Both skills deal identical damage, but Energy Bolt consumes 25% less MP and offers greater range. This makes it a more efficient choice for regular training.

Follow this order:

Energy Bolt: Level 1.

Improved MP Recovery: Level 1.

Energy Bolt: Max level 20.

Improved Max MP Increase: Max level 10.

Improved MP Recovery: Max level 16.

Magic Guard: Max level 20.

Maxing Energy Bolt first gives you the damage needed to handle early monsters. Improved Max MP Increase then builds a larger mana pool for future abilities.

Improved MP Recovery helps you manage resources, while Magic Guard provides essential protection by redirecting incoming damage to MP.

Cleric Skill Progression: Levels 30–70
Your second-job progression should begin with three basic utility investments.

Place one point each into Holy Arrow, Teleport, and MP Eater. Then focus on maximizing Holy Arrow to level 30.

After that, invest five points in Heal and five in Invincible to satisfy the required prerequisites.

Max Bless to level 20, then complete Heal to level 30 and Invincible to level 20. Maximize Teleport afterward and put the remaining points into MP Eater.

Skill Final Level Priority
Holy Arrow 30 Highest
Bless 20 High
Heal 30 High
Invincible 20 Medium
Teleport 20 Medium
MP Eater Remaining points Last
Bless is useful for party play because it improves accuracy and avoidance while enhancing Heal's output.

Invincible offers a flat 30% reduction in physical touch damage, making it an important defensive skill when navigating monster-heavy maps.

Teleport improves movement and becomes cheaper to use at higher levels. MP Eater provides additional mana utility, but its five-second cooldown in Classic World means you should not depend on it as your only recovery method.

Best Training Maps for Each Level Range
A good leveling route should change as your character gains stronger attacks.

Level Range Recommended Map Main Approach
10–30 Slime Tree Energy Bolt
10–30 Southern Forest Tree IV Early Magician training
10–30 Henesys Hunting Grounds Basic monster farming
30–45 Ant Tunnel Holy Arrow and party healing
45–55 Wild Cargo Holy Arrow grinding
45–55 Drake areas Offensive training
55–70 Wraiths in the Subway Single-target attacks
55–70 Coolie Zombies in El Nath Focused Holy Arrow damage
Slime Tree, Southern Forest Tree IV, and Henesys Hunting Grounds are practical choices for the first job.

After advancing to Cleric, Ant Tunnel offers a useful environment for combining attacks with party support. Wild Cargo and Drake areas become additional choices around levels 45–55.

For the final stretch toward level 70, Wraiths and Coolie Zombies are worth considering. Use Holy Arrow to focus on individual monsters rather than relying on Heal for damage.

Why Six-Person Parties Are Worth Joining
Although Clerics can level independently, six-person parties are generally the fastest option when the group has suitable class combinations.

An Assassin provides Haste, which improves movement around the map. An Ice/Lightning or Fire/Poison Mage offers Meditation, a valuable magic attack buff.

These abilities complement the Cleric's support role and help the entire party train more efficiently.

The best approach is to keep moving while healing teammates and providing useful utility. In Classic World, active healing and support allow you to receive experience from party kills.

Do not remain stationary and spam Heal in an empty area. Instead, follow the group, watch teammates' health, and use your abilities when they provide real value.

Final Equipment and Progression Recommendations
The strongest Cleric progression combines the right attributes, an efficient skill build, and appropriate equipment. LUK should remain at the level-minus-five target, while INT receives all remaining AP. Holy Arrow handles most offensive encounters, and Heal, Bless, Invincible, and Teleport provide the support needed for longer training sessions.

When comparing cheap MSCW Items, focus on equipment that meets your current requirements and supports your next leveling milestone. Avoid choosing upgrades based only on their price or appearance; practical improvements to your character's magical performance are more important.

With a clear progression plan, a suitable training map, and an active six-person party, the Cleric can remain effective throughout levels 10–70. The updated mechanics reward players who understand when to attack, when to heal, and how to make every skill point count.
