3-4
ive heard a lot of people saying we should switch to the 3-4 and now that the guy from marshall seems like the leading candidate for the dl job i thinking about it and it doesnt seem to make sense to me. yes we have a lot of lb but r ends and dt's dont fit the mold of 3-4 linemen other than tukuafu. u need 1 big run stuffing dt and two dig de. like i said before we have one of those. u need your dt to be double teamed every play practically and i dont see a player on our roster who fills that. not to mention the other big end. dont get me wrong i would love seeing kenny rowe come of the egde from a lb spot but not if it costs us of running yards which i think would happen if went with the 3-4 with are current personal. i loved to here what other people have to say about this.

Re: 3-4
Lots of people have brought this up recently with the depth we have at LB and the lack of talent at DT, but we dont have the personel to play a 3-4. You basically need 3 DT's to play the D line. I dp think we could do some good things in a 3-4 with the kids we have. I especially like the idea of Rowe coming off the edge, but in the end we dont have the needed Dlineman to occupy blockers allowing the talent we have at LB to run free to the ball.

Re: 3-4
I think it would also require a DC that is capable of changing his system. I don't think we have that luxury.

This was actually brought up because the Ducks have interviewed Jerry Azzinaro of Marshall for the DLine coaching position.

Re: 3-4
I cant imagine this is a plan for next year. Unless it was just to mix things up. We clearly dont have the personel to use the 3-4 at this point, and nothing is set in stone. Azzinaro is just a candidate for the Dline coaching job.

Re: 3-4
Who was D-line coach under NA back when Gang Green was active?
It seems like the D used to switch back and forth from 3-4 to 4-3 on a situational basis with some success, IIRC.

Looks like Azzarino is going to be our next DLine coach.

Re: 3-4
I disagree I think a 3-4 would be great for Oregon. With Tukuafu being a pretty big DE I'm sure we can find a big DT somewhere either in the ranks of the JC or in recruiting but I think it would match up great. It would certainly help hide pass coverage which we all know is abysmal. and if run stuffing is truly allow aloti's he will be able to succeed with a 3-4

Re: 3-4
If CK does plan on changing the defensive scheme when he is HC is doesn't hurt to change early even if we don't have the perfect personel because then the DTs hes recruiting see clearly how they fit in and fill the holes in the D. Given our lack of success with our current D its not like were changing from a really good scheme to a bad one.
