Does Owa like drama? Maybe he will have 3 hats on a table in front of him. Nebraska, UCLA, and OSU. He gives a quick speech about how he loves each school, then he picks up the OSU hat. Under the hat is an Oregon hat and he puts that on and throws up the O. Possible?

Kelly just did an in home visit. You rarely here a kid drop a team that just visited him for another team he already scratched off (OSU).

I wonder if the Masoli/Embry and Beard incident had anything to do with this? Because the sudden change is baffling.

No way. But this would probably happen: After he puts on the O hat, Kiffin comes running in, ripping his shirt off and gives Owa a USC hat. Owa puts on the USC hat and signs his LOI to be a trojan.

Book it.

You left out that Kiffin will be arriving in a school-owned Lexus, that he will proceed to crash into a phone pole upon arrival at said commitment ceremony, he will myseriously forget to call the police to report the incident, and out of the trunk will pop Lacey who will then pretend that she is just there on other business, but for some reason she's dressed in a USC-colored lace teddy, then when Lane rips off his shirt, all the while cussing up a storm into Owa's mom's face and getting all up in their grill, frothing at the mouth, a stack of Tennessee recruiting files fall out of his pants belt, which are quickly swept from the floor by the hired driver of the limo that just arrived to take Owa to his mom's new home, purchased with funds from sales of tickets received from some random NBA player.

Yeah it definitely doesn't make sense to drop a school you had an in home with & add a school you didn't have one with. He's handled the recruiting process about as good as anyone I've seen, now coming down the stretch hes all over the place. Who freaking knows with some of these kids. Finish with Werner, Huff & Lache and ill be a happy camper.

haha, you know what's sad though... that parody only includes about a quarter of the violations Kiffin had in one year at Tenn.

Another kick to the nuts if true.

BUT as I (and others) have said before, I'll believe it when his LOI is coming out of another team's fax machine (or there is no O hat on the table at his announcement). It makes ZERO, not ONE BIT of sense for somebody at Rivals to have that info verifiable, and for them to NOT have a story about it on the site. Rivals makes its living off of stories like these, you can bet your house that if "AJ" or anyone else actually had 100% factual evidence that Owa dropped us, they would have an article up there. That info is LITERALLY an increase in Rivals' profits. If true, a 4 or 5 paragraph article could be pumped out and online in a matter of minutes, yet there's still nothing on rivals, scout, or ESPN, or Oregonlive it's NOWHERE else but on the PT website (which is down now...)

Beyond that little nugget of wisdom, the article (which is now irretrievable -- I highly doubt the trib's site would still be down from overflow... more likely they're correcting the story and trying to avoid getting caught redhanded for crappy journalism) called (was later changed) Owa "a star TE", and mentions that Riley visited and Kelly did not. Information that we know to be incorrect. Not a terribly reliable source.

Some suggested that this past weekends' stories might have scared him off. Listen, Owa's a smart guy. In one instance, we had a guy almost get killed to protect his friend and teammate. I can't imagine THAT'S gonna scare him off. In the other story, rumors were wildly flying all over, but things are already getting straightened out to the point where it's looking like neither player was ever even involved, or at best its ONE drunken fraternity member's word against theirs. I cannot imagine that a kid who clearly has his head solidly on his shoulders like Owa wouldn't at least wait until the facts in that incident came out.

Might be true, might not be. Until I see Owa on TV w/ another hat on, I'm going to be firmly in the "we've still got a great shot" camp.

What is the deal with us not being able to close on DT's that can qualify but OSU is? Not saying Owa is going to OSU but they have already got a couple of good D-linemen.

It seems with a lot of recruits Oregon has been the leader for most of the recruiting season then some school comes in and closes them. Maybe Oregon needs to take that approach next season to see if that works for them. This is the frustrating thing I think for us fans, we keep hearing from all of these sources that we are the leader and then some school not even on the radar swoops down and steals them. I can understand Owa wanting to go to Nebraska but not Oregon State. Easley I could understand going with Florida. Pryor I can understand wanting to play for a high profile team with history that goes to a BCS bowl every year and Tressell sold him on being a pro style QB. Bryce Brown didn't know what he wanted which made it easy for Kiffin to BS him. Tahj Boyd I guess went with his parents on playing for a Christian coach. Keenan Allen it seems went with his parents but even if he didn't I could see wanting to play for a young NC team that should continue to rise. I think it is great that our coaches are honest with their recruiting efforts, not just telling a kid what they want to hear, and I wouldn't have it any other way but I certainly thinks it hurts us with some recruits. Hopefully we can land a couple of the other guys left on the board, if not hopefully we have better luck next year. It seems each year is getting better and better with recruiting efforts at almost every position. The only one left to conquer is the DT position.
