"Get real", surely you jest....lol...RuhlandAsherBestEver wrote:Guys get real neither of these kids will unseat Masoli.
Masoli has proven to be a very valuable asset this past year. Does that mean that there are not better QB's out there? NO WAY....
I would think the QB job this year will be Masoli's, unless someone steps up and blows him away (on the practice and playing fields of course).
But, lets face it, if and when MB vacates the HC position, the day in and day out hum drum, conservatism that we have all grown to know and love, is most likely gonna go by the wayside...
CK seems to be the type of coach that wants to excel each and every year...Not every 3rd or 4th year...
Whoever shows up to be the highest quality QB will most likely be playing ball. The others will be back ups..
CK will do what it takes to win...and wont be bound to play those to which MB has made previous promises to.
This offense rocks and if properly outfitted with the proper personnel,is gonna be damn hard to stop..
We have a number of quality QB's, and that should do nothing but increase the level of play for all of em.
Its called competition....and is a very good thing...
I will believe Costa might be a factor if and when he can make it through the practice sessions without injury...So far, the track record hasnt been in his favor to do so....I wish the young man well, but just dont see it in the cards, at this time, for usage as a QB....

About as well as tOSU's QBs ... does the name Troy Smith ring a bell?karlhungis wrote:Some of the more recent Boyd quotes have him expressing concern about how well a QB from our system would translate to the NFL.

Re: What do ya think, Mops?
I put this info in another post but right now there are 4 Oregon QB's in the NFL (Dixon, Harrington, Feeley, Clemens) compared to 1 each for tOSU and Clemson. Also, in another sentence Boyd says the system at Oregon is the best for winning a Heisman. I am about 80% certain Boyd will be a Duck and his parents will love Eugene or Portland or wherever it is they move to be closer to their son.echo31 wrote:About as well as tOSU's QBs ... does the name Troy Smith ring a bell?karlhungis wrote:Some of the more recent Boyd quotes have him expressing concern about how well a QB from our system would translate to the NFL.

It woud be a huge coup for Oregon to win any one of, or combination of, the PAC10 title, and NC or the Heisman, as far as recruiting is concerned.
Close, but no cigar, just doesn't seem to get the job done, in the minds of most HS players.

Re: What do ya think, Mops?
I think the Ducks in the next few years, possibly as early as the 2009 season will win the PAC-10, a NC and have a Heisman winner. Chip Kelly's offense can easily produce a Heisman winner. Masoli, Blount, Thomas, Harper, maybe Boyd and Brown could all be Heisman contenders as Ducks!woundedknees wrote:It woud be a huge coup for Oregon to win any one of, or combination of, the PAC10 title, and NC or the Heisman, as far as recruiting is concerned.

I think he signs on with a team with a good record of QBs.

Here's a question. Since Boyd will have reconstructive surgery and rehab, can he have a medical redshirt next year (he just rehabs his knee in the gym, watches tape and learns the playbook) then the year after that actually have a redshirt year? (where he is in on plays, runs scout team, ect.) Then by year 3 he will only be a freshman, while Masoli will be gone and Thomas will be a Senior or a Redshirt Junior. It would seem that would be the best way to get the most out of all 3 stud qb's.

Re: What do ya think, Mops?
Not optimistic. Here's my take on why he chooses Ohio St
1. Clemson simply too late, though they made a great push
2. Tim Boyd likes the attention that a bigger program like OSU will provide
3. Distance helps mom
4. Troy Smith's recent Heisman - TB is a clone of TS
5. I think their staff has convinced them that TP isn't the obstacle once believed
I know there's info pointing at Oregon and I could list a bunch of reasons why he could pick us, but in the end it's just extremely hard to get these type of players to come this far when they have other viable options.

I love all of the speculation. I am going to wait until tomorrow and watch this thing go in a myriad of directions: tOSU, Clemson, Oregon or "I am going to wait until after LOI day." I have to agree though that this kid likes the attention. We should just tell him we'll erect a 50 foot poster in Manhattan as soos as he signs.

Re: What do ya think, Mops?
What makes you think he's an attention seeker? He's just taking his time to get it right. He hasn't been publicly changing his mind every day, he hasn't been leading people on, and he definitely isn't doing anything like making a website for himself. He's just being sure.BisonDucks wrote:I love all of the speculation. That's actually called a grey shirt, but you can't actually enroll at the school. You can take some core classes at LCC or so and work around the program. Dixon did it.rjfrik wrote:Here's a question. It doesn't sound like Boyd wants to take a grey shirt however.
