Miami's new OC?

This should keep Brown in Miami. :(

Miami has targeted Philadelphia Eagles offensive assistant Mark Whipple to be the Hurricanes' offensive coordinator, Rivals.com has learned.

An NFL source says that Whipple "misses calling plays." A source close to the Eagles thinks Whipple "is going to take (the Miami OC job)."

Whipple and Miami still are working on contract details. His hiring could be announced on Monday. However, there's still a chance Whipple could be convinced to remain with the Eagles. He could take over as Eagles quarterbacks coach now that Pat Shurmur has left to become offensive coordinator with the St. Louis Rams.

Whipple spent the last two years with Eagles. Prior to joining Andy Reid's Philadelphia staff, Whipple was the quarterbacks coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2004-06 under Bill Cowher. Whipple helped lead the Steelers to the Super Bowl title after the 2005 season and played a big role in developing quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Prior to his stint in Pittsburgh, Whipple was the head coach of UMass, compiling a 49-25 record from 1998-2003. He led the Minutemen to the I-AA national championship in 1998. Whipple also was head coach of New Haven (1988-93) and Brown (1994-97). He has a 121-59 career record as a head coach.

Miami is replacing Patrick Nix, who was let go by Miami coach Randy Shannon after two years on the job.

I don't get Bryce Brown at all. It's not like this OC is any better than Chip Kelly is right now. Miami already has 2 4 star RB prospects in this class. Darron Thomas had that sort of thing happen to him, saw the writing on the wall and made the right call. Oregon would be a perfect fit for Bryce. Stewart was just picked in the 1st round out of Oregon, who has Miami had in the last 5 years? Why does he need to wait for an OC hire when CK is the best there is?

I agree Oregon would be the best fit for Brown, but Miami has the name and his brother. Also with all of the negatove things going on at Miami he might have a challenge and he says that is what he wants. He would win a Heisman IMO if he went to Oregon and maybe even a NC!

He wasn't the coordinator though, just an assistant.

I don't know what to think anymore, I'm just counting down the days until signing day. Even though Brown won't announce then.

This seems like a "who cares" hire to me, not terrible but not spectacular. How will it affect Brown? Who knows, but I guess we'll see soon enough

Unlike Boyd, I've never really gotten the impression that Brown is going to come to Oregon.
