Prospect Ranking

JCGridiron Top10 DT | JCGridiron.com | last sorted on 1/25/2009
2009 Rank Pos Ht/Wt Schools
1 Hebron Fangupo
Walnut (CA) Mt. San Antonio C.C. DT 6-2/330 USC
Big and powerful with surprising quickness for a big man. Needs to improve classroom habits to get on the field next season.
2 Myles Wade
Yuma (AZ) Arizona Western C.C. DT 6-2/311 list
Great workout warrior that took a year away from football. Very strong with tone of upside.
3 Akiem Hicks
Sacramento (CA) Sacramento City C.C. DT 6-6/300 LSU
A monster that is extremely quick for a massive body. Should be a force at the next level.
4 Andrew Iupati
Huntington (CA) Golden West C.C. DT 6-1/295 Oregon
Great motor inside and perfect size for a DT. Should be a force at the next level.
5 Joseph Townsend
Los Altos Hills (CA) Foothill College DT 6-4/295 Louisville
A tremendous prospect who plays with intensity. If he had his redshirt season he would be higher on the list.
6 Edwin Herbert
San Francisco (CA) City College of San Francisco DT 6-3/295 Florida
Tremendous athlete for a big man. A little work in the weight room could make him a beast.
7 Horace Hubbard
Fort Scott (KS) Fort Scott C.C. DT 6-5/281 Oklahoma State
Great athlete for a big man with room to grow. Out in December gives him a leg up on the competition.
8 Branden Warner
Compton (CA) Compton C.C. DT 6-2/280 UCLA
A physical specimen with great upside. An extra 15 pounds on his frame wouldn't hurt.
9 Peni Fiuangaihetau
Phoenix (AZ) Phoenix C.C. DT 6-2/280 Louisville
Intense player that never quits on a play. Could use another 15 pounds of beef on his body.
10 Terrance Montgomery
Reedley (CA) Reedley C.C. DT 6-2/295 Oregon
Great athleticism and a diamond in the rough. Signing early could get him on the field in Oregon immediately.

2 of the top 10, not bad and aren't both already in school at UO now?

Iupati hasn't signed a LOI, so maybe he has another semester of classes at JUCO. Anyway, he had a pretty good offer list. With Iupati and Montgomery with Cellotto, we shoudl be okay. Doesn't exactly scream out as our number one position with comments like "diamond in the rough" describing Montgomery.

Dang it anyway. It still stinks about Wade, Thompson and Fili/Kuli... whatever his name was!

Why can't these guys get the academic work ethic displayed by 2008 PAC 10 All Conference Academic squad members such as (First team) DE Nick Reed, Sr. (2 times), OL Jeff Kendall, Sr., OL Jon Teague, Sr. (2 times), (Second team) DL Cole Linehan... Let alone the guys who got honorable mention such as WR Rory Cavaille, OG Jordan Holmes, So., WR Aaron Pflugrad, So., LB Riley Showalter, Jr., and last but certainly not least, C Max Unger, Sr.

It's not easy, but it definitely can be done.

Looking good on Players #4 and #10...Granted, they are JC, but most likely can step in and contribute right away....But, its always nice to get these kids right out of High School and have em for a full 4 years...
Unfortunately, Myles was unable to keep up with the scholastics for whatever reason and the others just havent worked out either....I spose we just need to patient and good things will come to us, in good time..

Are there any concerns about Iupati academically, or is he good to go? It would be a disaster if he doesn't take the field for the Ducks next year.

I would assume he's good to go since we haven't heard about any potential problems

Maybe he isn't as good as everyone originally thought and that is why the Ducks and Beavers didn't take him.
