Well, if he did pay someone, then perhaps it should have been reported. Thing is, athletes pay for papers & such all the time and since I wasn't sitting in class with him, I don't know about that. What I do know are his parents and how much they sacrifice for those kids.cordy02c wrote:if he's all about hard work then how come he paid someone to do his senior project. Cordy: Get over it. That's something that happened in high school and doesn't mean anything anymore. Just because he didn't pick Oregon or looks like a dufus doesn't mean you start bringing up pretty insignificant stuff.

Re: Butler wins...
The Duke haters and pure nonsense spewed by others never ceases to amaze me.
First of all, the Duke fans were NOT chanting "it's all over" when DeShawn Butler was unfortunately injured in the 2nd half. However, the West Virginia fans were showing their support by chanting "DeShawn Butler." I invite you to go listen to the replay!!!
Secondly, say what you want about Kyle Singler. I personally don't know the guy but would NEVER sit here and judge him or anyone else, especially over something that I heard from my "sources"
Who freaking cares! Are you perfect? I guarantee you wouldn't be saying a darn thing if he was wearing a Duck uniform just like we all wish he was. The guy is about as complete of a player as it comes and most importantly he seems like a good person as well.
Referring to Duke as "Puke" is right up there with haters calling us "Hole" "U-Owned" etc. etc. Yes, its extreme small time talk. Bottom line, Coack K and his program is what college basketball is all about. Yes, a first class gentleman running a program with a bench full of assistant coaches who know the game of basketball and life. The Duke players actually are true student-athletes who compete and play basketball at an extremely high level. On top of that they play in a incredible home environment in front of passionate fans who don't waste their time chanting offensive things unlike the Pit Crew.
Oh and if you wondering, I had the luxury of going on a 35 state road trip in 2002 seeing games at Wrigley Field, PNC Park, Fenway, the Old Yankee Stadium. I had the pleasure of getting into the hoop arenas at Kansas, N. Carolina, Duke, Butler, and Wisconsin. The highlight was shooting hoops inside Cameron Indoor for 2 hours on the campus of Duke. So yes, I bleed a little blue with my Duck green and yellow. Regardless, I don't expect everyone to be a Duke fan because that would be no fun. However, I have a hard time keeping my mouth shut when others fail to state the facts and waste their time being hateful.
Carry on and Happy Easter to you all!!!

You are correct on the chanting - check at the 1:29 mark. "Da'Sean Butler, Da'Sean Butler"PJG23 wrote:The Duke haters and pure nonsense spewed by others never ceases to amaze me.

Re: Butler wins...
Trash talking is really not that big of a deal... Calling them Puke is nothing to get sensitive about, just like people calling us whoregon and the *ucks is just playful banter. It's cool you really like Duke. But everyone else is allowed to make fun of them without acknowledging how wonderful the Cameron Crazies are or whatever.PJG23 wrote:The Duke haters and pure nonsense spewed by others never ceases to amaze me.

I stand corrected and apologize to the Duke fans. I will still root for the underdog Bulldogs although I don't believe they will win.MFRDuckFan wrote:You are correct on the chanting - check at the 1:29 mark. Tracydub....thanks for proving my point!!! Again, as I clearly stated I don't expect everyone to be a Duke fan. You're obviously free to act and say what you want but degrading other teams is not playful banter and at the end of the day doesn't reflect well on your character or for that matter sound one bit intelligent. Me sensitive? No, i was just taught to respect others, especially my opponent and in this case a first class basketball program.

If the behavior displayed regularly by the Pit Crew was coming from the bench of one of the participating teams, you cna virtually guarantee that a technical foul would be charged against the offending team.
I would be thoroughly embarrassed if my kid was doing that.

Re: Butler wins...
Wait... So you think it's wrong for people to call Duke "Puke", but coming with Tracydub (good one, by the way) is alright? How is that not completely hypocritical? Why don't you stop being a buzzkill and imposing your antiquated views of respect on everyone else and let people have some fun. Making up stupid/silly names for other teams is not a big deal.PJG23 wrote:Tracydub....thanks for proving my point!!! Again, as I clearly stated I don't expect everyone to be a Duke fan. So typical of this new age. We have to love everyone now, even in sports!PJG23 wrote:Tracydub....thanks for proving my point!!! Again, as I clearly stated I don't expect everyone to be a Duke fan. Ever heard the term "sports hate"? Thats part of what makes sports so great. Thats what make Duke so polarizing & gets them so much play. You're either a Duke fan or you hate them. Very few people are just in between. Just like the Yankees, Lakers, Notre Dame, etc.
It plays a huge part of sports & is a big reason so many fans are excited about this national title game. I'm not a fan of either team but I really want PUKE to lose so I will tune in.
When fans refer to us by "whoregon" & "the *ucks" I find enjoymeny in that. It means other fans are taking notice of us. Why? Because we're good. Just like Duke. Why can't I stand them? Cuz they find a way to win 25+ games & be in the tourney every year. And they get 100x more coverage than my team. All you ever hear about during the basketball season is Duke.

Traydub...sorry the name mishap was on honest mistake and definitely unattended. And if you think that calling people names is fun then I honestly feel sorry for.
dthomas=ddixon...So having respect for others is new age...lol? That's awesome especially since you think that sports hate is what makes the games so great. Even more classic, you claim that you're watching the game to watch PUKE play. So you would be watching if West Virginia was playing Butler?
In closing, this exchange of messages explains why I stay away from these boards. I simply commented earlier regarding the DeShawn Butler case and it now has turned into this exchange.
Have a good day!

I believe there should be a respect between the players & teams. The ones actually involved in the game but in no way do I have to respect Duke. I'm a fan.
And yes I would be watching the game if WVU was playing, I'm a huge college basketball fan. But now that Dukes in it I have a rooting interest & am probably looking forward to the game more than if WVU was playing.

Re: Butler wins...
Sorry I am far from sensitive. I clearly know I am in the minority when it comes to supporting Duke and am NEVER afraid to have a civil debate about any topic. I simply visited this board for this first time today as I took a break from my grad school studies and the crappy weather. In doing so I saw a comment that was inaccurate so I spoke up. To each is own but I would rather spend time being productive developing my business and having conversations with my friends and family...instead of having a pointless discussions on a message board. Well, Easter dinner is on the table. I hope you enjoy Duke winning another title. Gotta love winning the bracket pool and some cash as you second favorite hoop team cuts down the nets!!! Hate on...
