WHY is UO recruiting already moved to 2010 on 1/27/09
Honest Question its the last week of recruiting and the entire focus has switched to 2010 why is UO recruiting so different than other top BCS schools? I have usually only seen this out of tier 2 schools...

Got or missed on our targets for this year. Time to focus on targets for next year.

because our class is about over and both eDuck and DSA are run by people who dont believe in calling recruits to see what they had for lunch thankfully.
Had Boyd committed to Oregon DSA would have huge photo and massive story on the commitment.

Because my top 10 is made up of guys I think we have better than solid chance of landing.

No qb's on the list? IMO, we should be all over qb's, wr's and rb's, especially if we strike out in this class.

RB will be a need but have 1 4* already committed but will probably need another with some size to compliment Grants speed. QB will be a need also and I would guess once HS QB's see the type of numbers Masoli will put up next year we will be able to land a good one. If we land the 2 4* WR's in this years class that I think we will land, then WR may not be a huge need next year but taking 2-3 would be nice but my guess is we will probably see UO only go after big names, kinda like QB and RB this year.

QB and RB are going to be the pressing needs on the offensive side of the ball. In 2 years, Thomas could be the only QB on our roster with any kind of experience. Next year is really going to show if Kelly and the coaches can get a big-time QB or 2 to come to our program. I think we are on our way to getting about 2-3 RBs next year. Grant is a nice small RB to have but Oregon will also need a big, bruiser-type back to fill the role of Blount. I think that Oregon will fill that by going to the JC route and also picking up a big HS who'll then redshirt.

Re: WHY is UO recruiting already moved to 2010 on 1/27/09
my early thoughts at next year if we sign 25 kids with our class as of right now for 2009 added in.
QB-1
RBs-3
WR-2
TE-1
OL-3
DE-2
DT-3
LB-3
CB-3
S-2
ATH-2
Thats how I see it right now as of now. It will change and change greatly next week and then again come Spring when we know if guys leave the program or not.

Very interesting post. Do you really think we'll need 3 more LB's? Won't that give us something like 9 scholarship LB's in 2010?Mops wrote:my early thoughts at next year if we sign 25 kids with our class as of right now for 2009 added in.

Maybe we need more LB's because we'll be running a 3-4

You'd rather have Anderson and Lowe than Meline and McCartney?Mops wrote:Because my top 10 is made up of guys I think we have better than solid chance of landing.
From my vantage point I don't even think Anderson gets an offer. Meline and McCartney both have UO in their top 2-3 and plan on visiting unofficially. Your list is interesting to me for those reasons.

I'd like to get Meline and McCarthy more than Anderson and Lowe, but right now, speaking with both, they are interested in Oregon but I am not willing to say we lead yet. My top 10 is guys I think we lead for have have a better than solid shot at getting.
Once I get the feeling the two FL boys want to come here they will sky rocket. I guess I need to post something explaining my top 10.

Great list mops and the more I read about these players the more I want each of them!Mops wrote:Because my top 10 is made up of guys I think we have better than solid chance of landing.
Q for you...what if both FL WRs commit to us do we still go for more?
Man I'm really excited about the RB recruits next year! Sounds like we may have some tough choices ahead!
