Provided he qualifies, I would probably prefer Gaines as well. I think he would be more likely to make an immediate impact. Rankings don't always mean much, but the top JC receiver is pretty impressive. Look how much Terrence Scott helped us.

So Hall's dad says he's 99% sure that he is going to AZ combined with our luck with JC's makes me think that we have another depressing day coming....

Yeah, agreed..At least a top JC reciever has proven himself at a level higher than High School ball....May not be able to utilize their talents for as long, but ya have a more defined idea of their capabilities...or so I would think

But it took Scott a year to learn the playbook and be able to make a contribution. At that point Hall would also know the playbook, have a year to mature and get stronger, and have THREE years to play, not one.duckgrad99 wrote:Provided he qualifies, I would probably prefer Gaines as well. I'd choose Hall but be happy with either

cody kempt was a semi-illiterate idiot. i played high school basketball with him. how that guy got a scholarship to play football at UO is a remarkable story in itself. he got dominated in high school. one of the biggest travesties of a scholarship ever given out by any school in any conference in any division in any era of football ever.

We really only need 1 of these players. IMO, and personally I would rather it be Gaines first he is most game ready, secondly I think some of the Florida talent that is hot on us for next year are better recievers than Hall. I think Hall is okay as a WR, and legit as a CB or safety due to size. The reason he is a good WR is his size vs other HS players IMO. His route running and break away speed are something left to be desired.

Interesting take. FWIW, 6'4" safeties and 6'4" cornerbacks are a very rare occurrence. In fact, I find it very common for there to be 6'4" WRs who run a 4.6 forty. That's not really my opinion either. It's just kinda like the facts.

Looking at the DSA article on Gaines, it indeed says that he's deciding Friday, but also says he won't inform the UO and OU coaches of his decision until signing day. So I don't see how that means anything but that we won't know until signing day either.

Re: 2 WRs deciding on Friday
It didn't take Scott a year to learn the playbook, he was playing behind seniors, such as, Brian Paysinger (IMO was the best receiver on the team before injury), Camron Colvin (who was having a decent year), Derrick Jones (bust), and J.Will (who was actually catching passes before Dixon went down). The team's plan was to redshirt Scott, but injuries forced him into action and we didn't have a QB that could grow up fast enough to get the ball to the open guy.alabamaduck wrote:But it took Scott a year to learn the playbook and be able to make a contribution. Re: 2 WRs deciding on Friday
Hall is being recruited defensively by almost every school, then once he said he might want to play offense we said sure and so did Cal and Arizona as well in hopes to land him. I just think some of the 2010 Florida receivers may be better polished for WR, getting Hall may hurt our chances with them due to depth chart. That is my only concern. I think with Gaines and Tuinei we have enough receivers to get through next year. Add Maehl/Harper/Jordan/Embry. Diante Jackson. Getting full at WR.
