2010 QB Tyler Shreve

Post by jhopduck »

One to watch here as he is listed on rivals as pro-style but has more dual threat abilities. USC may give a look but man beating out Matt Barkley for the next four years won't be attractive. Did I mention he is from Cali? Not VA or PA or any eastern seaboard state? Also Rumor has it Oregon is up at/near the top of the list already. Upper 3 at least.

Short review:
Shreve, the 6-foot-4, 205-pound junior from Redlands (Calif.) East Valley, is considered to be the most likely alternative to receive a USC scholarship offer. While Thomas is your more traditional pocket passer, Shreve provides a dual-threat element to the position. Unofficially, Shreve runs the 40-yard dash in the 4.65 range according to East Valley head coach Kurt Bruich.

With Mark Sanchez's mobility being one of the primary catalysts for the Trojans burgeoning success in the passing game, Shreve's athleticism would be the attribute that could land him an offer. On the season, Shreve has completed 60/100 (60-percent) for 898 yards, eight touchdowns, and one interception, while also rushing for 372 yards on 76 carries and eight touchdowns.

At the Elite 11, Shreve displayed an above average arm with good spin on the ball. In comparison to many of the 2009 participants at the camp, he easily ranking among the top five passers in most categories. Combined with his athleticism, Shreve is an intriguing prospect because of potential.

Good find. With Boyd opting elsewhere, QB just became the top priority for '10.

I would be very surprised if he left Cali. Having lived in Redlands and viewing first hand how much people love USC out there, it is gonna be an uphill climb.

Well, then maybe our best angle is that he won't get to see the field @ USC unless it's in garbage time.....cleaning up for Barkley.

That would probably be the only way to get to stay with us. UCLA is the other group I'm worried about.

The rumor is that a friend asked him about college and he said that Oregon is his first choice right now. If he has real 4.6ish wheels I'd be amazed if he didn't get an offer soon. If he doesn't already have one.
