Rahim Cassell back in play???
Looks like it may come down to UO and UCLA.
An excerpt from ESPN (Insider Only) http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/blog?nam ... %3d5414049
He was planning to reconfirm his commitment to Florida at the Gators Friday Night Lights Event prior to Gridiron Kings, but it now looks like the two parties will be going in different directions.
Oregon was a close runner up for Cassell before he originally chose Florida and the Ducks have never stopped recruiting him. If signing day was today, there is little doubt Cassell would be a Duck.
UCLA is the linebacker's dream school and he mentioned while at Gridiron Kings that if the Bruins had offered him a few months ago, he would have committed on the spot. UCLA only lightly recruited Cassell, but if it were to get involved now, the Bruins could potentially move to the top of his list.

Didn't even know who he was before reading Mops' post about him earlier since he really hasn't been on the radar for awhile. Wouldn't be a bad player to get. You can never have too many speedy, athletic LBs.pdxduck wrote:Looks like it may come down to UO and UCLA.

I watched his video on YouTube. He might not be the biggest linebacker, but he really attacks the ball carrier and is a pretty explosive tackler. He fits the mold of linebackers the Ducks seem to land.

UCLA doesn't have many rides left. I hope it does come down to them and us.

From the sounds of it, Oregon only real shot is if UCLA decides not to honor it's scholarship offer. Things can change though and he could very well end up here.AugustDuck wrote:UCLA doesn't have many rides left. I hope it does come down to them and us.

Interesting article from the Orlando Sentinel regarding Florida not accepting Cassell's commitment.

Re: Rahim Cassell back in play???
According to Rivals' list of each team's verbal commits, UCLA only shows 6. Not sure how many they are expected to sign in Feb, but even if it's a smallish class they still have quite a few rides left. We are competing with UCLA for a ton of highly rated kids this year.AugustDuck wrote:UCLA doesn't have many rides left. I hope it does come down to them and us.

The article leaves me not knowing a thing about whether he commits to UF or not. Though it sounds like he still wants to go there. We should play Neuheisels stadium apology, after our game last year, for recruits that are on the fence.Interesting article from the Orlando Sentinel regarding Florida not accepting Cassell's commitment.

I have been told on a UCLA board that they only have 14 or 15 this year.

Re: Rahim Cassell back in play???
That would be an amazingly small class. If that's true that bodes well for us considering how many outstanding players list both of us very high. My bet is they'll likely be closer to 20 than 15, but I'm going to ask around.AugustDuck wrote:I have been told on a UCLA board that they only have 14 or 15 this year.

It seems like UCLA has had a couple really small classes the last few seasons. Looks like they could miss out on some really good talent this year.

The whole thing doesn't sound too good for the Ducks. I know all kids have a dream school that the majority never get to play at but I don't like for it to be out in the media that UCLA is his dream school but if he has to, he'll play at Oregon. Clearly, I am taking him a bit out of context but I'm sure you see my point. I'll take a kid like Sumler who couldn't wait to commit versus one who sounds like he may commit if another school doesn't offer him.

This program was built on players just like that...Who wanted to prove to those dream schools they were good enough...And they love Oregon after.HomeFieldAdvantage wrote:The whole thing doesn't sound too good for the Ducks.
