Recruiting notes from ESPN

Post by jhopduck »

Trying to stay within boundaries of posting. First off anything I post from ESPN is not premium content, it's a free site to everyone. Anyways here's a summary.
Cameron Marshall enjoyed his visit. Said everything campus/school/facilities were real nice. He is not prepared to commit to Oregon and does not have a leader at this point. Rivals has a story up on him too, and it basically says the same thing.
Clay will decide tomorrow. We led going into the trip and that has not changed. We all expect a commit here so this should be routine. "SHOULD"
Sione Tuihalamaka was supposed to go to Cal. Did not as his SAT was too low. Tried to come this weekend did not happen obviously. Will come 1/23 to the O.(us)
Side note: Colorado got Nuckols and Kasa this weekend. That's a big addition to that defense. Kasa had an awesome week at the AA game. He's a stud.

Great post jhop.

On a personal side, I think the staff wants Marshall regardless and if we dont get Brown he becomes priority number one at running back.

Yeah there was a sense on the Rivals board that Marshall was maybe told about him being a fallback for Brown/ a conditional scholarship sort of deal. Which is probably the only reason he is not a Duck yet.

I'd agree with that. Times have sure changed for the Oregon program when they are telling a kid like Marshall he's a fall back guy.

Indeed they have, if we can keep this momentum the sky's the limit. Our WR class is really starting to take shape too if Gaines commits.

I'm not sure they would come right out and tell CM he had a conditional offer, etc. The kid is pretty good and our staff knows the BB situation is very much up in the air. My bet is they let Cameron know, in a round about sort of way, that Brown was definitely considering them. I think part of Marshall's tone (not sounding overly jacked up) is he's probably going to wait and see what Bryce decides. He says he's in no hurry so why not wait & see if the #1 RB in the country does. He's not going to get much p.t. at Oregon if BB becomes a Duck.

I disagree Mac. I think he could very well get a lot of PT at Oregon even if Brown comes and we continue to have the same type of success we have had the past 3 years running the ball. Brown will have a shot at going pro after his junior year much like Jonathan Stewart did last year if Brown lives up to the same hype. Marshall would redshirt next year anyways and thus he'd be a junior when Brown could possibly leave and have 2 years to fight for carries.

Im not saying its a given he will see carries as there are some ifs but with the lack of youth on this team he could very well get as many as 10 carries a game by the time he is a redshirt freshman or sophomore. Then more as he gets into the second half of his time here.

What really bothers me is Nuckols out of Cali going to CU. There was early mutual interest in he and us, we let him go cuz we didn't think he would qualify academically. And we thought Thompson and Wade would. Talk about going O-fer. That's bad execution.

I think we should not miss out on a player of Marshall's capabilities (ie. Jeremiah Johnson and J-stew). With Bryce being Stewart and Marshall being JJ. It is nice to have that young back up and as posted here before. RB is a position that sees so much hitting, that injuries happen and good backups are a necessity. Plus they contribute elsewhere. I think after we land B Brown (hopefully), we still offer Marshall.

Marshall wont be a side ways runner but more of a north south power runner just like Brown is. That shifty speedy back that will go with hopefully Brown is LaMichael James.

Anyone else shocked Kasa switched to Colorado? I've been reading that Hawkins will be on the hot seat if he doesn't improve a bit next year. Should be interesting to see what shakes out.
BOOF it!
