Kind of a slow news day so -

Look, I am one that likes our class. Could it be better; sure could, and might be in the end, but the defense and O line sure picked up some studs this year and that is most welcome. However, I can't help but compare Stanford's recruit list (8 ea. 4*'s and 12 ea. 3*'s) to that of what they typically land. Cursed Harbaugh is taking what should be rightfully ours!! We need to make him pay this year on the field for his audacity.

That being said, ("when" not if) we get big wins at home as well as a win at Boise St. and Utah/Perdue...should produce huge results. 2010 is going to be crazy recruiting.

Its a lame post and I apologize - blame it on bordem and/or the calm before the storm blah, blah, blah. Just wanted to get angry at someone to get the juices flowing a bit and Jimbo seemed like an obvious target.

I put a little of the blame on Jimbo. A lot of parents want their kids to get degrees from Stanford and stay close to home. With him being talked about as the "Football Geez" of the west coast, it is a lot easier for him to bring in football talent. Also, a lot of coaching changes are hurting us. Changes within our system and the possibilities for positve changes in other systems has turned some kids away. Along with the aforementioned complications in qualifying, this class has dropped from great to good. I will take it and wait for next year as Oregon proves that their offense will continue to be the best in the country. Hopefully some increased WR play will bring in some big prospects next year.

And I have to agree that the successful advent of Harbaugh has had an impact on Oregon.
The very first seaso (Same year UW recruited Jake Locker, in fact) Washington produced another QB who was nearly as highly touted of an athlete as Big Jake... Kellen Kiilsgaard.

He committed to the 'Furd before the firing of the previous, stuck with themin spite of a full court press from the Ducks, among others, and ultimately signed with Harbaugh's first class (And yes, academics were a factor).

He never played QB at Stanford. Would he have been the savior of the Ducks last season? We will never know.

I don't think "Kellen II" is even at Stanford anymore. Last I read he was unhappy with the way they were using him and was going to bolt to play baseball.

Wounded. I didnt take it as a slam at all. I promise. I am rarely serious and glad you added to my post. It was starting to feel lonely - poor little post that couldn't. Anyway, I typed it up and hit send - then thought, yikes that might have been the stupidest post I have ever written, which is saying something since most of my post are rather stupid. KK was converted to Safety before the beginning of his first season, then red shirted.

Very comparable to Washington signee Jake Locker. Solid size, good strength at his position, but his mobility and feet are what sets him apart. Great straight-line speed and is very good at making would-be tacklers miss. Will most likely get a shot at QB first in college, but is also an exceptional safety.

He is no longer listed on Stanford's football roster. He is listed on their baseball roster as an outfielder.

Ya I agree kudos to the furd and Harbaugh, they've done excellent job this year! But we don't recruit with them (maybe a couple guys...) my hat goes out to them!

As far as KK, man that is a guy afew years ago I thought would be a good one...in FB but I guess BB is fine but its too bad for the FB team they could have used him.

Oregon doesn't really compete with Stanford in recruiting. It is Cal that has really taken kids away from Oregon. Since Tedford has been at Cal he has laid the smack down on the bay area. Oregon used to always be able to go into the bay area and get kids but know Cal is cleaning up. And just these last couple of years Colorado has really been killing Oregon in head to head recruiting battles.

True, but it can be a domino effect. Because Stanford takes from Cal, Cal needs to go after more kids, and we lose out on a few that might have come this way. How many times have we seen Cal and Oregon listed as a finalist for a kid this year?
