I don't like it when it criticizing kids.. these are just KIDS... not professional athletes, criticize coaches and the staff.. but to constantly harp on and on about this kid or some other kid not being worthy of attending our sacred university gets tiresome.Tray Dub wrote:Why the hell does everyone that criticizes any aspect of the U of O, outside of what's "acceptable" (Ernie Kent and Aliotti) get so much crap?

Re: New QB?
The way I see it is many recruits read this board to get a feel for the O. It really doesn't help them decide to look at going here if the Oregon base is down on the coaches, recruits and each other. I do not expect everyone to agree on everything but as Mops posted - keep it classy. I'm not trying to give any crap - just answer the question as I see it.Tray Dub wrote:Why the hell does everyone that criticizes any aspect of the U of O, outside of what's "acceptable" (Ernie Kent and Aliotti) get so much crap?

Re: New QB?
Why not have a fall back? Would you rather not take any one and just strike out with each "#1 player" by position? Duckgrad, you post often and it is helpful for everyone to put their two cents in, but you are being a HUGE negaduck right now. You haven't seen these kids play and I'm positive that our coaches know what they are doing. Would you rather have cody kempt at 4th string or this kid?duckgrad99 wrote:UOducksTK1 wrote:Who are you to determine which player would be better for our team?duckgrad99 wrote:By the way, speed isn't the only determining factor for a recruit. If you look on scout, there are several players with speed, yet they don't have a single offer. I prefered AJ Graham.
Leave it to the coaches and quit complaining.
Hey man, I don't have to gush with everyone else and love every recruit. Whether people want to admit it or not, this is a strange commit. People wonder why Oregon doesn't get to bcs games, and this is one reason why. Top teams just don't settle with fallback options. I'm a diehard duckfan and I want Oregon to get the best players possible, and a player going from Northern Iowa to Oregon just doesn't do it for me. Call me a negaduck if you want, but that's just my opinion. I never said I hope he sucks at Oregon.

Well yeah, and if someone is saying "this kid is stupid and his mom's kinda fat", then I'll tell him to shut up too. But duckgrad (and I, though no one seemed to care that mucb) was just saying his offer list wasn't good. It's just pointing out the obvious, and it wasn't a personal attack.scaredhitless08 wrote:I don't like it when it criticizing kids.. these are just KIDS... not professional athletes, criticize coaches and the staff.. but to constantly harp on and on about this kid or some other kid not being worthy of attending our sacred university gets tiresome.Tray Dub wrote:Why the hell does everyone that criticizes any aspect of the U of O, outside of what's "acceptable" (Ernie Kent and Aliotti) get so much crap?
By the way, all the comments about Justin Thompson and Myles Wade being stupid... Low class. Just because they aren't ducks doesn't mean we should start acting like that.
Again, if we were using personal insults, then yeah, that's not classy. But saying that you're not excited about a kid because his offers aren't good... These kids are going to have to deal with a hell of a lot worseduck55 wrote:The way I see it is many recruits read this board to get a feel for the O. Yeah, I have never once made a personal attack on any of these Oregon recruits. That would be wrong and totally classless. I know that we have to trust the coaches, but it's a legitimite concern when a player goes from Northern Iowa to Oregon the day before LOI day. Sorry if some of you disagree, but I don't see that as being negative. And nothing I have ever read on this board should be that hurtful that a recruit would get so upset and even go elsewhere.

The fact Hawkins played safety on a state champion team in the second largest shool size xlassification in Nebraska should appeal to some of you.

You nailed my point about the personal attacks. I think a kid with no offers already knows he will have to deal with what people say or think about him. I admire the spunk in a kid that could be the star player close to home taking the gamble to be the small fish in a big pond far from home and try to prove himself.

^ Dude (duckgrad99) you add very little to this board because most of your posts just seem to magnify negatively we all want success and the coaches are the experts! Yes you can question what they do but try to support it some facts because our opinions mean very little!

Whatever man, go ahead and think that if you want. You only see what you want to see. Just because I have a different opinion then you sometimes, doesn't mean I add little or am always wrong. Read what the mods have said please. No personal attacks, and that includes posters.

Re: New QB?
This is one heck of a student and an athlete! I am very confident that the coaches know what they are doing and that we, as fans, need to trust them and have patience. Do we know what position that coaches want him to play? No! Possibly QB, but as some as you have said possibly WR. I am excited about him!
And, one last note... why do some of you have to post basically the same critical remarks over and over again!? Fine if you want to express yourselves once or twice, but why repeat yourselves over and over and over...? It gets old and fast!

I knew I shouldn't have posted that but you do realize most of what you project is negativity or pending doom, it just gets tiring. I don't post just positive info but what I do try to do is look forward and not sweat stuff outa my control. Just read some of your posts to see what most people see and try to add to the topic rather than dumping on everything that's said. And BTW I don't think what I said was a personal attack...duckgrad99 wrote:briarduck wrote:^ Dude (duckgrad99) you add very little to this board...just saying!

Re: New QB?
Do people think duckgrad99 is cheering against the Ducks. Many of you make it seem that anything other than total support for each Ducks decision is basically cheering against the Ducks. Be honest, how many of you when you looked at this board for the first time today were stoked we were getting a LOI from a 1* athlete that has only 1 other offer? My reaction was WTF! So why can't someone post that and not be called a negaduck. It's not that I don't want him to succeed because I do more than anything. I hope he's goes down as the best player Oregon's ever had at whatever position he plays.
