You're entitled to your opinion, but go back and look at Oregons classes on scout. Other than Masoli, we haven't had a 1 or 2 star player shine since the 2005 or 2006 class. Despite what you and others might say, I would much rather have a 4 or 5 star recruit than a 1 or 2 star recruit.

Very good pick up for the ducks. Getting at least 2 DTs was the goal, and we accomplished it.

That's because any player that came after the 2006 class is a FRESHMAN or SOPHMORE. Seriously, you make some really ignorant statements. I don't mind your negativity but maybe think before you post.duckgrad99 wrote:dthomas=ddixon wrote:Exactly. Of course we would much rather have a 4 or 5 star recruit, but obviously that's not happening, so just take what you have. In the end, it really doesn't matter all too much.duckgrad99 wrote:dthomas=ddixon wrote:Exactly. This has more to do with the fact that the '07 class has just 2 years under their belts than anything. Additionally, there are only eight guys rated below a 3* in the '07 & '08 classes combined. There were 19 in '05 & '06. Your point has been invalidated.duckgrad99 wrote:dthomas=ddixon wrote:Exactly. BTW, Masoli was not a 1* guy. He was a 3-5* depending on who you ask. http://jcfootball.scout.com/a.z?s=87&p= ... id=3481647

It amazes me every year how even though we have a very low amount of commits from 5*s people expect a good amount each season....
When they start coming on a regular basis is when people can get upset we dont get more than 3,4, 5, or whatever the fricken amount you want.
I WANT 25 5* RECRUITS AND I WANT IT NOW!

Not a good enough come back. Except for Masoli, how do you explain the recent success of players like Blount, Harper and Scott? That's right, they were all 4 star players. We have had our successes and failures with 1 and 2 star recruits, but personally, I would rather take my chances with higher ranked players. That has nothing to do with being ignorant. If you disagree, that's fine.

Mosoli was a 5* not a 1* but I do think are starting safety this year will be Javes Lewis who was a 1* that the coaches plucked from nowhere who was on his way to JC. 99 not to attack you but seriously we aren't SC we have never gotten nor will we ever get a class full of 4* and 5* until Oregon grows to about 8mill. people.
Of course everyone wants a 5* and 4*guy but the fact is that will never happen. Our best run in Oregon football history was 99-2001, how many 4* were on the whole team? My guess about 5-6, so we can win with what we get it has been proven and actually in 02-03 the reason the teams were so bad in my humble opinion was from highly rated guys like Smith, only caring about their own stats and not the team.

That's not a valid excuse, because we have had 4 star players since the 07 class come in and contribute right away.

Miami constantly gets top notch recruits, why have they sucked the last few years?

I was talking about HS players, not JC. What has Harper done? He's got a great future but as of now he hasn't been anything close to the "star" that you say all these 4*s have been.

Ok cool, then that even further proves what I'm trying to say. The higher ranked recruits are more likely to make an immediate impact.

The success of our players has nothing to do with how many stars some recruiting service deems they are worthy of.duckgrad99 wrote:Not a good enough come back. How do you explain the successes of:
Max Unger
Jeff Kendall
Mark Lewis
Patrick Chung
Jairus Byrd
Walter Thurmond
TJ Ward
Spencer Paysinger
John Bacon
Sonny Harris
?????
And how do you explain the lack of success of many of our 4-star guys over the years?
Bottom Line: STAR RATINGS ARE MEANINGLESS ON THEIR OWN
