Diante Jackson?

Post by Greenblood »

Mops, can you check and see if there's any reason to alter your plans re Jackson (that you mentioned, couched in vague terms, on a post last week) for LOI day? I'm hearing ominous things that we should not be too confident . . .

I'll dodge this bullett for you Mops. The rivals forum is saying TOS(the other site) Scout is saying Diante is wavering. Well the other site Scout is not, I just checked both of them. Please don't ask Mops on this subject He has a vested interest that he needs to stay quiet on.
Sorry if that came off the wrong way, didn't mean to sound like a jerk. rest easy buddy.

That's fine. I don't post much and that's the first one of that nature I've posted. I must say, it's hard to know what one can and cannot say . . . But I'm all for doing what's necessary to keep the good info flowing on this board as freely as possible.

Yeah you're right Scout just blew up with it in the last ten minutes and so did Rivals after Scout. IDK, if anything new develops Mops may fill us in. The scout mod said he will try to conact momma Jackson again to see if there is any leg to this story.

I hate to be negative, but I am done with this Diante thing. If he wants to go to a program that we dominate in recent history head to head and overall then be gone. We would help make him a star and instead he will end up going to CU and catching passes from a medicore quarterback at best. Coaches son not so good. He will regret this decision if he goes that direction. I hope we get a couple of good commits soon and pull our offer.

Shouldn't we just give up on Diante, let's get some of these other WR recruits that want to play for the Ducks.

Jhop, I respect your opinion. Do you agree with my take on the Diante thing. I believe that we have to much to offer to get played by this young man. I kind of get the Pryor situation last year and can understand holding out hope on Brown this year but it's not like Diante is a top 3 WR. Shouldn't we at some point just focus on the others and say enough?

Thanks Wip. MOps is the foremost authority on Diante and his info is accurate. I would say this: the family obviously is not on the same page and needs to get it sorted out once and for all.
I'll say this: IF Gaines commits like we expect, Johnson commits like we expect, and Wheaton hangs on to commit, then we already have Tunei. I hate to see the staff hold out for Diante only to cost them Gaines and/or Wheaton. Not to mention Adam Hall is really looking our direction. IF we get 3 of these if/borderline committed guys, then they book them now and move on. Would they ever pull the offer for Diante? Not likely, he is pretty good. But all things aside this is getting totally ridiculous.

Mops has a better source than anyone else. People could be making stuff up just to stir the pot.

They aren't. I've heard it from a few credible Buff sources. They are hearing that Hawkins has smoothed the family over and Diante's looking to be a Buff again.

Whether it's true or not I don't know but it's not blind speculation.

If Jackson indeed does not really want to be a Duck, then I largely agree with the sentiment of just letting him go to where he wants to go. On the other hand, I'm remembering what (many of us believe) happened with the WR recruits Aaron Boyd and Streeter last year, where apparently their families stepped in and they ended up signing with Kentucky and Florida (?), respectively, even though we figure their first choice was the Ducks. I don't know, but I wouldn't be a bit surprised if both of those guys now feel just fine about being where they are (obviously chime in if you know differently). I suspect that in general that would be the norm for a young guy after a bit of time in a foreign place that was not his first choosing.

So then maybe it would be a little reversal of last year -- and at the same position, but in our favor -- if Jackson ends up sending us a LOI on Feb 4. But I definitely don't intend to worry about it too much, either way, and the Ducks may not be able to wait that long in any case.

Thanks guys. I hope Diante goes where he wants to go.......even though that probably means we lose him. College choices in my opinion are the first big decision that a young man or women should make on their own. A lot of times parents that mean well end up more intrested in what's the best for them and not the kid.

Holy crap guys stop worrying about Diante...we already been told he's our at not to worry about it...so stop!

If somehow Hawkins has swooped in..."from a Buff source"...does it really affect all the other great WRs were getting? with that said...

Hawkins can try but he's a DUCK and the family is onboard too!

GO DUCKS!!

PS I really feel we need a PANIC ROOM for some of you! Funny stuff!

I don't know what to make of this situation anymore. Oh well, I can just wait until signing day.
