Blazers are nowhere close to a title. I'd be down with D'Antoni for a few years cause it'd be fun to watch, inflate our players stats and improve their trade value

this seems more like something that's said from time to time, but doesn't really seem to have much weight behind it. why couldn't d'antoni win a title? you need talent to win a title. when his best player was a 6'0 white dude, he went to back-to-back western conference finals. that's not horrible. i don't think erik spoelstra has any special ability that jerry sloan never did; doc rivers was considered a huge failure until he was handed four all stars and suddenly he's probably the nba's second most-respected coach. i think he's negatively criticized a bit too much just because his style of play is fun and free flowing.

Fair enough, but I was alluding to the fact that his teams play no defense which doesn't work for teams that aren't straight up better than everyone else. The fact is that we have four question marks this year and an all-star and I would rather have a guy who instills the right fundamentals in our young guys instead of d'antoni who is all about offense.

Gadzuric and Jeffries are now Blazers with Felton and Thomas gone. I guess that's okay since Felton wasn't in the plans anyway. Maybe Gadzuric ends up increasing the athleticism at the center spot.

// shrug, kinda/sorta sounds like a lot of generalizations. you can just as easily argue that d'antoni has never had anyone who would really be considered a plus defender. kind of hard to play defense when none of your players have the ability, and when you pilot teams built around steve nash and amare stoudamire, you're not going to be able to play much defense. terry porter tried turning phoenix into a defensive-first ballclub once d'antoni left, and he got ****-canned after half a season. alvin gentry came aboard and had the suns back in the western conference finals the next year. you coach the players you have, and the good coaches coach to their players abilities...

Blazers have received Batum offer from Minnesotta, so blazers now have three days to match and can't sign and trade. I read last night Minnesotta offered three first round picks for Batum, I would've done that. I think blazers will match, though I would let him walk and use that money on next years free agents.

Word is the reason that the blazers are so hesitant to pull the trigger was that the T-wolves put a clause in their offer sheet that the team who signs him has to pay him 15% of his contract, obviously knowing that they have no intent of trading him. I'll try to find a citation for this
