I'm not saying that BB is going to go to Tenn, but far to many Duck fans drank the Tajh Boyd Kool-Aid and I see it happening w/Brown too.

I think we can all agree that both Brown & Boyd would likely admit that Oregon, from a pure FB standpoint, offered them the best overall opportunity. Unfortunately, the total package is missing far too many times when we are after these high profile kids who live far away. Bottomline is Boyd opted for Clemson because their coaches made a great, late push and it's way closer to home. Tenn or LSU is doing the same. Given how close the Brown family is and having 2 brothers playing big time CFB, I just don't envision a situation where he'll end up in Oregon.

Bryce Brown and Tajh Boyd are two completely different situations. Boyds mom wanted him to stay close to home. Boyd verbally commited to 5 different schools during his recruiting process. Coach Kelly flew out to Virginia thinking that Boyd was going to commit to Oregon, he was the only coach of the three their that day. You would think if good ole Dabo really thought he was going to get him he could of made the short trip. With Bryce he has commited to one school and is weighing his options. He commited to Miami early in the process why still visiting a few schools. Wanting to make sure he goes to the school he has the best chance for success, then he visited a few more schools after the first day players can sign LOI's. If you take Butler out of the situation this isnt a big deal, and I honestly dont know why it has been such a big deal. Maybe its only a big deal to the schools he is still considering, Orson Charles commited to Georgia the other day and know one announced it and discussed why his recruitment went a month after February 4th. Im optimistic that we get Bryce Brown just like a lot of people are, im going to be optimistc until he signs a LOI with another team.

So what, Bryce's Father has stated many times he wants Brown to play for Miami with his brother or somewhere else close to home.

Spot on ARGHim.

Please stop comparing this to Boyd! It's nothing close to the same situation. If BB doesn't come here, it's still not anything like the Boyd situation. Bryces mom isn't calling the shots like Boyd's did.

Every parent has a school in mind that they would like their child to attend. It doesnt mean that kid is going to go to that school. With Brown's dad, he has said he would like for Bryce to play at Miami aside from that I dont think he has ever mentioned anything about staying close to home. He wants his son to succeed and put up huge numbers, because the goal in the end is to make it to the NFL. Its no secret. That is why Oregon is so highly regarded by Bryce Brown. If it wasnt for the success of Stewart, Johnson, and Blount in Coach Kellys offense I dont think we are having this conversation about Bryce Brown.

One would hope that if Bryce wants to be a Duck, that his parents would let him follow his heart and his dreams.
I can think of two highly thought of LB's that said they both favored Oregon but their dad wanted them to go to SC...

Rey Malalugua(could you imagine!!!) and Jordan Campbell

I wish we could have got them.. also the two receivers your talking about, Tommy Streeter and Aaron Boyd... Both 4*, Both 6'5'', Both with 4.50 forties... That hurt to type

Why is it so different. I believe the reason you're thinking this way is due to the fact that the Boyd's were so quotable and the Brown not nearly as much. I agree that Tajh & his dad did commit to several schools and had a very hard time making up their mind. The key though in both cases is Oregon is far away for both players and they both come from very tight knit families that did express (in Boyd's case) that being close to home was a major factor in Clemson's favor. In BB's case, though they have said little in comparison, it is becoming more & more obvious that the family decision (not just Bryce's) will factor in geography big time. They are far more similar than many of you are admitting.

Bottom line is Brown probably ends up at Tenn, LSU, or even Miami because of family pressure and the same thing occurred with Boyd. Boyd told CK privately that he would have come if it wasn't for his parents wanting him closer. BB says he dreams of putting on the Duck uni at night, but his father & handler have pushed him to take other trips. It's the distance thing folks and that's why he won't be a Duck IMO no matter how much he knows this is the best offense & coach to play for.

It sounds like you're just describing your gut feeling rather than giving a reason why geography will be the deciding factor.

Just because geography has factored in with recruits in the past doesn't mean that it will with Brown and all others. The evidence I have is simply that it has not for others. Chris Harper is from the same place as Brown and he's a Duck. Others are from farther away and are on the team.

If Brown does choose one of those schools and says that geography factored in (or something to that effect) then yes, you could then say, "that was a lot like the Boyd situation." But, until then, I don't see any reason to draw comparisons that haven't materialized yet.

I agree that it's a precarious situation. Truth-be-told, I imagine that just about every D1 program knows how to make themselves seem like a great place to be. Having parents in their ears arguing for this or that choice could be all the sway that is needed to pick any program. However, I think the rapport with coaches is something that can't be reproduced if it's not there. And it sounds like Kelly has that with Brown. That could be a deciding factor also.

Oregon being the long distance school is the only thing that the Boyd & Brown situations have in common. They have gone about their recruitment in a whole different way. And how " it is becoming more & more obvious that the family decision (not just Bryce's) will factor in geography big time"? Where has that come out? When have anyone from the Bryce camp even hinted at that? You just "feel" that & are coming to your own conclusion. Let's look at facts.

Brown has been commited to Miami this whole time. Taken other visits but hasn't given other schools commitments. Has spoken for himself in all the media interviews and talking to schools & coaches. It's known that his parents would like him close to home but in no way will make the decision for him, he will go to the school he wants to go to.

Boyd officially committed to 3 different schools, WVU, Tenn, & Clemson. Gave all 3 schools, tOSU, UO, & Clemson, a silent verbal in the days before making his decision. Boyd's dad ran his recruitment, talked to all the coaches & recruiting sites. Boyd's mom obviously had the final say in the decision & wanted her baby at Clemson.

Well said wheaton...

On top of that I would rather be in the discussion for a recruit than not at all! Besides we have the same issues gong against us recruiting Arizona and Cali players...

GO DUCKS!!

I guess I have to spell it out for you guys.

Why do you think the additional trips to UT & LSU were added? They were added because the Browns wanted Bryce to consider other schools (besides Oregon) after it became pretty obvious that he might not go to Miami and play with his brother. Bryce's dad and Mr Butler have pushed for Miami for a long time as BB was committed to them. They are the ones pushing for these other schools as the family wants the boys close. Oregon doesn't fit that plan.

Now I can't give you quotes from interviews to back this up, but some knowledgeable folks say this is what has been going on ever since Miami has fallen out of favor with Bryce. Now he could certainly become a Duck and I certainly hope that God directs all of them to agree that we're the best choice despite the distance. But given that some in the family don't want him "out here", then that strike against us is a big one and may not be possible to overcome. That is why I made the Boyd comparison in my first post. That is the similar tie between the 2, though I agree everything else isn't the same. Unfortunately, the end result may end up the same and distance from home will still be the key component in both.

No one is denying the fact that his parents would like Bryce to stay closer to home. What parent wouldnt want their child to go to school close to home. Like I said before I think he will have the choice in the end. That doesnt mean he wont deicide to stay close to home but if he likes Oregon and Chip Kelly as much as he says he does then I can see him becoming and Oregon Duck.

Bryce Brown took 5 official visits after commiting to Miami to make sure he made the right choice and weight his options. Him visiting LSU and Tennesse carry as much weight as his visits to Oregon, Missouri, Clemson, and K-State. They all came after he commited to Miami. He also concidered USC late in the process which is just as far away from Miami and Kansas as Oregon is.

BB is in charge of his recruitment &, though his parents may want him close to home, it's never been stated that they will make the decision for him. Until he goes somewhere else & says that he wanted to be close to home, I won't believe otherwise. There's been nothing of him going somewhere else because of his parents! Just your gut feeling.
