Well then that's even more of a reason to like Tubby, because look at his record at Kentucky. :)

duckgrad99 wrote:Sub par recruiting? I'm sure people would disagree with that when you look at the 2004 class.

Read the whole post...the knock on Tubby at Kentucky is that he wasn't pulling in top 5 classes consistantly (sub par by UK standards), I didn't say he couldn't recruit. You're also only looking at one of the 10 classes he had while coaching at Kentucky

I see, well if Kentucky standards are to get every #1 high school kid, then yes his recruiting hasn't been good enough. At any rate, I wouldn't worry about his recruiting if Oregon was lucky enough to get him.

Actually, that's exactly UK's standards. As I said in a previous post, I think Tubby would be an incredible hire. I'm just laying out why he left Kentucky. The media reports that he quit, but I know that was a choice being given to him by the school because he was about to be fired.

Unfortunatley at UK coaching for 10 seasons, winning a National Championship and making the tournament EVERY year got to the point where it wasn't good enough. Look where it got them...Tubby's got Minnesota in the Big Dance and UK missed it for the first time in 18 years.

Wasn't Tubby's Minn a finalist for Wilson also? So hopefully Wilson would stay signed on with UO.

I believe so. Crittle was also down to Minnesota and Oregon for his final 2.

I hope the "inside info" ends up being true, but unfortunately, I think Kent will be back for 1 more season. With the new arena on it's way though, it will be "make or break" time for Ernie.

On educk there seems to be the same sentiment 99. Kilkenny doesn't want to fire EK but money talks and if the big money donors want EK gone and are unwilling to give a dime to UO until he is, my guess is he is gone soon.

The donors have a ton of say, especially since they are the reason for this new arena. It gives them all the power. If it brings in a coach who can COACH, I'm all for it.

Tubby Smith huh?... Can't say that I'm gettin a boner like everybody else here.

I'd prefer Anthony Grant, as opposed to a lateral move like Smith.
