And I'd be disappointed if I didn't quarrel with the resident Trojan from time to time. :)

Here is the second sentence from the article:
"But Trojans coach Lane Kiffin said Sunday that USC recruiting deficiencies are a reason six Pac-12 schools are currently ranked in the Associated Press Top-25 poll."
Coach Kiffin can't possibly be suggesting that there are five other ranked PAC teams just because USC has lost recruiting battles to conference teams. Nobody is that stupid.

The only reasonable interpretation of what Kiffin meant to say that the PAC is doing well because USC was losing big time recruits to OOC foes and now more of those recruits are going to other PAC schools.

The Beavers are ranked #14 because they won recruiting battles with SC? Don't think so. And don't believe that Kiffin meant to say, or even imply, that other teams' rankings are a direct result of SC recruiting deficiencies.

Maybe it was just a poorly written article. *shrug*

Hey, Kiffin isn't stupid. The correct term would be "Idiot Savant".

While educk rankings aren't the final word, it is a general indication of how well teams recruit. Kiffin's hard luck story doesn't hold water when at least one rating service has them ranked in the top 5 three out of the last four years. That is a 6th ranked class on average for five years.

Kiffin is throwing his players under the bus. How can all those four and five star player under perform? Dah..coaching Lane. Give those same players to Mike Riley and OS would be a top five team every year.

2009 USC Ranked 9th
2010 USC Ranked 5th
2011 USC Ranked 4th
2012 USC Ranked 20th
2013 USC Ranked 2nd

It'd be unfair to the rest of the country. That's why he didn't take the USC job a couple years back when it was available, and It's the same reason Bill Snyder doesn't recruit well. They like playing on hard mode, more fun that way.

I think all of Bravehearts comments in this thread are pretty spot on regarding what kiffin probably meant.
