One of my best friend's cousins was the kid who fell off that machine. ND flew him and his family out as an apology, he met the team and he said all the players seemed shaken up and were really nice to them, and when BK came around, he said he was sorry and then left and my friend didn't see him again the rest of the trip. My friend wasn't bothered by this because he's a blind ND fan (goes there now) but that's something that really bothered me. I haven't liked him since.

This article covers the gist of how Kelly left Cinci.

But, also, realize that this was UC's first ever BCS Bowl Game, and the pinnacle for the program and its fans, so there was hate coming his way no matter how polite his exit was.

Also important to know: Kelly was holding the admin at UC hostage for a while too, saying he would sign extensions only if he was guaranteed an indoor facility and a stadium expansion. They agreed to both, started building both, and are now counting on continued success to bring in the money to cover the huge costs of expansion.

Please, educate me on how he left those schools. Did he leave prior to a bowl/other big game? The same way many other coaches leave when taking a bigger/higher paying gig? He made the University of Cincinnati untold amounts of money and prestige in his time their and moved on. Unfortunately, college football is a business and these guys make business decisions. He would be fired for going 0-12 so why shouldn't he move on to bigger and better when he goes 12-0. The same players who criticize him for 'taking the money' in going to Notre Dame are the same guys who would go pro after their junior years to take the money.

As far as the incident with the video guy, it was a horrible decision on his part to have the practice outside and he was vilified for it...rightly so. In the end, Kelly has that kids blood on his hands and has to live with that for the rest of his life. I guess my point would be, accidents happen. It was a lapse in judgement and had tragic consequences. Are we really going to hold that against him forever? The kids family has accepted Kelly/ND's apology and they are the ones who should hold the biggest grudge.
If you care that much educate yourself, or just read through the thread. BK is a dirt bag & it doesn't take that much to realize it. Unless you just feel like being argumentative, which I don't.

again, that could be enough to file manslaughter charges against him for making that decision. No different than a drunk getting in a car, a poor decision is a poor decision and if being inebriated is enough to warrant charges against people than being sober and making a poor decision reflects even worse. Ultimately that is the problem I have with ND - people keep dying and nobody takes responsibility because it wouldn't look good.

The fact that he took ZERO responsibility for that kids death is why I think he is a grade A scumbag.

Would have, wonder which Kelly leaves for the NFL first. Chip or Brian?
