Brian Kelly interviews with Eagles
Sort of seems like this received minimal attention, but this late in the process, it wouldn't surprise me to see this matchup happen.

Interesting, especially when BK said that leaving wasn't an option. He should have said, not until we get our butts whooped in the NCG!bellsduck wrote:Sort of seems like this received minimal attention, but this late in the process, it wouldn't surprise me to see this matchup happen.

Just another reason to love Chip. He doesn't say nonsense like "leaving is not an option." Wait, why did I think Brian Kelly had any integrity to begin with.

I hope he takes it. It will help solidify the image that I have of him being a snake.

BK is about as low character as it gets. Left the Cincy program in such a bad way his players walked out on him when he told then he was leaving. And of course the tragedy of the videographer that died needlessly. Kid had no business being up on a lift in 60 mph winds, you're not supposed to operate then in 20 mph wind conditions. But no one really cares & BK's moved on without remorse like it never happened. I hope he goes to Philly simply to get him out of the college game.

You left out the rape of a Saint Mary's student by a ND football player wherein another helped threaten the girl not to talk before she ended up killing herself. Yes, that player was on the field against Bama, too.dthomas=ddixon wrote:BK is about as low character as it gets. Technically, the assault is still considered "alleged." In any case, it goes much deeper than BK. It's about an institutional unwillingness to truly investigate the claim. So much so that it provoked federal response which subsequently mandated changes in reporting & investigation of such claims. A travesty of the highest order.Duck07 wrote:You left out the rape of a Saint Mary's student by a ND football player wherein another helped threaten the girl not to talk before she ended up killing herself. Brian Kelly interviews with Eagles
Key word is alleged. What was LaMichael James alleged to have done to his ex? When the initial allegations came out, hadn't he choked her and dragged her by her hair across a parking lot? And when all was said and done, that was like 10% of the truth.Elduderino wrote:Technically, the assault is still considered "alleged." In any case, it goes much deeper than BK. Only 1 person knows what actually happen because the other one is dead. I'm not saying it didn't happen but those sorts of allegations are easy to make and can ruin someone's life if the allegations are false.
I hate that people hold that against him because he is in a lose-lose situation with something like that. Suspend the kid and find out the allegations are false, his career is over (see Duke Lacrosse team). And if you don't act, people say you support rapists (when nothing has been proven). Again, not saying that the assault didn't happen but to me, it seems like just because the young lady killed herself, people say it must have happened.
Back to the topic at hand, Kelly is a highly successful coach and it shouldn't surprise anyone that he interviewed. He will probably regret his quotes at the press conference about the NFL not being an option. I don't understand the sleaze ball comments though. He has taken promotions as they've become available. He left Cincinnati for a once in a lifetime gig and I don't blame him. Would any of you pass up a job where you'd receive double or triple the salary?

BK strikes me as a "short memory" sort of guy... "What have I done for ME lately?"

I actually don't disagree with any of your post. My qualm is that the claims, by almost all reporting sources, went all but ignored by the Notre Dame administration. It should have been investigated fully, and it wasn't.Duck24 wrote:Key word is alleged. What was LaMichael James alleged to have done to his ex? Re: Brian Kelly interviews with Eagles
The rebuttal with that is that, how accurate are these reporting sources? 'Sources' in media today is a loose term for 'the current hot rumor' IMO. Again, I will use the LaMichael case. 'Sources' were reporting all sorts of crazy noise about him and what happened. Remember when 'sources' said that LGB punched Mike Bellotti? How many sources have said Chip is leaving, UO is getting hammered by the NCAA, Dontre Wilson/Robinson twins are decommitting etc. I am not comparing the seriousness of this alleged assault to head coaching rumors or football recruiting, but the point stands. Sources today are a joke. If we tried hard enough and started a rumor on this board, we would be considered 'sources' by some media outlet.Elduderino wrote:I actually don't disagree with any of your post. It wouldn't surprise me if something did happen but without the player being charged or other formal actions, it is tough for the university to act and I don't blame them for not acting. Innocent until proven guilty has become, guilty when charged and even if you are not guilty, your name has been sullied beyond repair. It is a crappy situation for the university when these sorts of things happen because regardless of what they do, they will be in the wrong. Like I said previously, suspend him/boot him and find out the allegations are false and you have ruined his life/athletic career. Don't act and let the process play out, you are considered a 'sleaze ball' and other unsavory things.

If you followed how BK left Cincy closer, along with the rest of his coaching career, you would understand. The guy couldn't be any more "me first". To the point where someone dying because of a terribly selfish decision by him doesn't phase him in the least.

Re: Brian Kelly interviews with Eagles
Please, educate me on how he left those schools. Did he leave prior to a bowl/other big game? The same way many other coaches leave when taking a bigger/higher paying gig? He made the University of Cincinnati untold amounts of money and prestige in his time their and moved on. Unfortunately, college football is a business and these guys make business decisions. He would be fired for going 0-12 so why shouldn't he move on to bigger and better when he goes 12-0. The same players who criticize him for 'taking the money' in going to Notre Dame are the same guys who would go pro after their junior years to take the money.dthomas=ddixon wrote:If you followed how BK left Cincy closer, along with the rest of his coaching career, you would understand. As far as the incident with the video guy, it was a horrible decision on his part to have the practice outside and he was vilified for it...rightly so. In the end, Kelly has that kids blood on his hands and has to live with that for the rest of his life. I guess my point would be, accidents happen. It was a lapse in judgement and had tragic consequences. Are we really going to hold that against him forever? The kids family has accepted Kelly/ND's apology and they are the ones who should hold the biggest grudge.
